Overall, there’s a lot to like here
Soria returns to Cambodia trying to find herself after her mother’s death, where she finds a family she never knew and an old building full of dark secrets. After the death of her Japanese-Cambodian mother, a manga artist and her friend decide to travel to Cambodia to learn more about its past, but when strange events occur in her building that suggest something darker is happening to the residents, they stop early before it spreads. One of the strongest features is a really enjoyable and immersive setting with a lot of interconnected parts that tie together quite well. Starting with the background of her mother dying in mysterious circumstances while living in a society she had long been estranged from, it provides the means to create a return motif as well as giving each other plenty of background.
This setup helps the film become a lot more fun when the sinister instincts start to come true
Because we’re aware of the relationship presented and how it affects her, wanting to reconnect with everyone when she comes to find out why is a natural part of their reunion. The presence of community behavior and rituals also seems like a great choice to enhance this kind of story, making it a strange custom before it gradually turns darker and more sinister. It creates a fantastic sense of looming horror the longer they both stay in society, the danger building up, creating more suspense. With a low profile that revolves around the community’s good-natured if slightly unnatural behavior or simply the observed ritual trap left behind, it’s nice enough to serve the film until it gets to the more revealing sequences later on.

The big sequence plays out as a strange form of cooking, where family members and others she met in society gather and perform a seemingly ritualistic ceremony designed to prepare her for a special occult ritual that will soon turn into a ritual. the nightmare that he can’t tell his dream from reality is pretty impressive. She takes the remainder into a much darker genre, which includes several revelations about the visions she’s had, leading to a wild finale that reveals the dark origins of the ceremony for what it is. for introducing a new spirit to the hosts' a body that is again understated than expected, but still manages some generally chilling visuals and set chases.

All of this adds up to a lot to like, because while there aren’t too many downsides, there are a few issues that pop up. Since the first half is more menacing and low-key than anything else, there isn’t much to reveal what’s going on, instead focusing on the eerie atmosphere of the building as well as their menacing behavior to create almost nothing but fear. . As a result, almost nothing is revealed about what the society is trying to do, what their ritual involves, or how things are supposed to be done, so little is said about it.
Rating Unrated/R: Violence and language
It’s only at the end that things come together, so it’s likely to be a little confusing at first to figure out what’s going on. Another downside is that this setup also allows for a fairly slow first half, with very little going on other than setting up storylines that pay off at the end, so it takes time to show. These are some minor drawbacks of this display.
