However, a series of emerging environmental risks from geothermal energy development and operation have been drawing increasing attention from governments and the publics. In this context, the present study provides an overview of methods for quantitatively assessing the environmental risks of geothermal energy. These include seismic hazards, human health, ecological damage and economic loss. The constraints on constructing assessment frameworks are also discussed. Furthermore, a preliminary concept for an integrated framework is proposed to assess environmental risks of geothermal energy comprehensively from multiple perspectives. To enhance the accuracy and reliability of the proposed framework, a data-sharing platform needs to be built to develop multi-disciplinary modeling further.

    Systematic searches were performed in MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Virtual Health Library, The Cochrane Library and the System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe up to June 2019. A narrative synthesis was performed to summarize differentially expressed genes (DEGs). These were grouped according to the culture method (2D or 3D), force type (compression or tension) and observation time. Additionally, gene ontology (GO) analysis was performed using the Database for Annotation Visualization and Integrated Discovery. The risk of bias (RoB) and certainty of evidence (CoE) were assessed using a modified CONSORT checklist and the GRADE tool, respectively.

The quantum-sized FCNs with multiple carboxyl groups and ester groups show better aqueous dispersity and can induce various positive physiological responses in Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings compared with the FCNs decorated without carboxyl and ester as well as aggregated FCNs. The raw FCNs present higher promotion capacity in plants biomass and roots length, and the quantum-sized FCNs are easier to be absorbed by plants and generate more positive effects on plants.Background OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of peripheral muscle training (PMT) and different inspiratory muscle training (IMT) methods on respiratory functions, exercise capacity, and biochemistry parameters in coronary artery disease patients with metabolic syndrome.

    This prospective, single-blind, randomized-controlled study included 60 patients of stable coronary artery disease with metabolic syndrome (New York Heart Association [NYHA] Class I-II, left ventricular ejection fraction >40%). Patients were randomly divided into three groups neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) plus PMT group (NMES+PMT group, n=20), IMT plus PMT group (IMT+PMT group, n=20) and PMT group (PMT group, n=20). Treatment continued for six weeks for all groups. The NMES was applied to rectus abdominis, IMT was applied with 30% of maximal inspiratory pressures, and PMT was applied at home. Spirometry, maximal inspiratory and expiratory pressure, dyspnea scores, exercise stress test, and biochemistry parameters were measured before and after training.

    There were significant improvements in spirometric tests, respiratory muscle strength, dyspnea scores, exercise capacity, fasting blood glucose, and antistreptolysin O after treatment in all groups (p<0.05). Significant improvements in C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were observed in NMES+PMT and IMT+PMT groups (p<0.05). Among the groups, there was a significant difference in maximal inspiratory pressure (p=0.02) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (p=0.037) in favor of NMES+PMT group (p<0.05).

    Our study results showed significant improvements in respiratory functions, exercise capacity, and biochemistry markers in all groups. Different IMT methods can be used in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation to improve exercise intolerance in coronary artery disease patients with metabolic syndrome.

    Neoplasms of the sacrum and pelvis are challenging to manage due to their complex vascularity and size and are at high risk of bleeding during resection. Intra-aortic balloon occlusion (IABO) has been used in trauma to control massive blood loss, but its efficacy and safety in oncologic sacral and pelvic surgery are unknown. The primary objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the effectiveness of IABO in providing hemorrhage control during resection of sacral and pelvic tumors.

    This PROSPERO pre-registered study meta-analyzed all studies reporting on the use of IABO in the setting of pelvic and sacral tumour resection, in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The primary outcome of the meta-analysis was intraoperative blood loss, with secondary outcomes consisting of transfusion volume, post-operative blood loss, operative time, complication rate, and mortality.
