However, a recent cross-sectional ageing study of relative telomere length (rTL) in bats failed to detect a relationship between rTL and age in the long-lived genus Myotis (M. Fimepinostat myotis and M. bechsteinii), suggesting some other factors are responsible for driving telomere dynamics in these species. Here, we test if longitudinal rTL data show signatures of age-associated telomere attrition in M. myotis and differentiate which intrinsic or extrinsic factors are likely to drive telomere length dynamics. Using quantitative polymerase chain reaction, rTL was measured in 504 samples from a marked population, from Brittany, France, captured between 2013 and 2016. These represent 174 individuals with an age range of 0 to 7+ years. We find no significant relationship between rTL and age (p = .762), but demonstrate that within-individual rTL is highly variable from year to year. To investigate the heritability of rTL, a population pedigree (n = 1744) was constructed from genotype data generated from a 16-microsatellite multiplex, designed from an initial, low-coverage, Illumina genome for M. myotis. Heritability was estimated in a Bayesian, mixed model framework, and showed that little of the observed variance in rTL is heritable (h2 = 0.01-0.06). Rather, correlations of first differences, correlating yearly changes in telomere length and weather variables, demonstrate that, during the spring transition, average temperature, minimum temperature, rainfall and windspeed correlate with changes in longitudinal telomere dynamics. As such, rTL may represent a useful biomarker to quantify the physiological impact of various environmental stressors in bats. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.NEW FINDINGS LVAD patients are predisposed to hypertension which may increase the risk of stroke. These issues are, in large part, related to chronic exposure to a non-physiologic pulse, which contributes to a hyperadrenergic environment characterized by markedly elevated levels of sympathetic nerve activity through a baroreceptor-mediated pathway. In addition, these machines are unable to participate in, or contribute to, normal cardiovascular/autonomic reflexes that attempt to modulate flow through the body. Futhermore, the optimal treatment for ALDY is yet to be established. We report a 9-year-old girl who presented with annular and oval erythematous lesions mostly on her trunk, with several lesions on the neck, groin, flanks and upper extremities. The lesions had histological and immunohistochemical features characteristic for ALDY. Treatment with H1-antihistamines, topical corticosteroid and UVB therapy was unsuccessful, while systemic treatment with cyclosporine induced complete remission. All rights reserved.Traditional carbon materials have demonstrated immense potential in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) owing to their superior electrical properties and environmental stability. Graphdiyne (GDY), as an emerging carbon allotrope, features uniformly distributed pores, endless design flexibility, and unique electronic character compared with traditional carbon materials. Herein, graphdiyne is introduced into the upper part of the perovskite (CH3 NH3 PbI3 ) layer by utilizing a GDY-containing antisolvent during the one-step synthesis of perovskite. Intriguingly, GDY plays an essential role in hole accumulation and transportation because of its higher Fermi level than perovskite. As a result, the automatic separation of photogenerated carriers inside the perovskite film is achieved. Furthermore, the Schottky barrier formed on the interface between perovskite and GDY guarantees the unidirectional hole transport from perovskite to GDY, thereby benefiting further extraction to the hole transport layer. Consequently, GDY-modified perovskite-based planar PSCs exhibit a boosted Jsc of 24.21 mA cm-2 and up to 19.6% power conversion efficiency owing to the increased efficient light utilization and charge extraction. The device with GDY modification exhibits less than 10% shrinkage after a month in ambience.
