This paper embeds environmental compliance factor and compliance cost factor into the M-O monopolistic competition and multi-product firm model to construct a theoretical model applicable to environmental compliance and enterprise innovation. In addition, we also construct a new environmental compliance index. We use the random-effects Tobit model and the double hurdle model to empirically test the micro-data from the Database of China Industrial Enterprises from 1998 to 2013, then we use the Generalized Propensity Score Matching (GPSM) to conduct a robustness test. The robustness conclusion is that environmental compliance has a significant U-shaped relationship with enterprise innovation, which means, environmental compliance will inhibit enterprise innovation on the left of the inflection point of environmental compliance (0.669), while environmental compliance on the right of the inflection point will promote enterprise innovation. The sub-sample regressions show that, enhanced environmental compliance of state-owned enterprises, mature enterprises, core area enterprises and export enterprises with low level of the environmental compliance, makes the greater inhibition to enterprise innovation, and enhanced environmental compliance of above enterprises with high level of the environmental compliance, makes the greater contribution to enterprise innovation. To this end, the government should adopt the policy, from the shallower to the deeper, to promote the construction of environmental compliance, and identify the inflection point of the environmental compliance on enterprise innovation to stimulate the role of environmental compliance in promoting enterprise innovation.
There is a lack of consensus with regards to the consequences of cycling practice on urogenital and sexual problems in men. The aim of the study was to analyse the relationship between intensity of cycling practice and urinary tract symptoms, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence.
Observational hypothesis-generating design. Cyclists, men, between 25 and 70 years who had been cycling for more than one year were included. During the statistical analysis, a multiple linear regression model, partial correlation and Spearman’s correlation were carried out.
Fifty-eight men participated in the study. Results showed that there is a correlation between years of cycling and prostate symptoms (
= 0.041), and between age and erectile dysfunction (
= 0.001). The multiple linear regression model and the partial correlation analysis showed a correlation between the years of cycling and prostate symptoms (
= 0.007 and
= 0.018).
The results have shown that there is a slight correlation between the years of cycling and the presence of lower urinary tract symptoms, independently of the man’s age. Therefore, the results display that high-intensity cycling practice might impact negatively in some men’s pelvic floor functions. Further research is needed to analyse the impact of cycling on urogenital problems in this population group.

The objective of this study was to determine the role played by IgLON5 during myogenesis. We found IgLON5 expression progressively increased in C2C12 myoblasts during transition from the adhesion to differentiation stage. IgLON5 knockdown (IgLON5kd) cells exhibited reduced cell adhesion, myotube formation, and maturation and reduced expressions of different types of genes, including those coding for extracellular matrix (ECM) components (COL1a1, FMOD, DPT, THBS1), cell membrane proteins (ITM2a, CDH15), and cytoskeletal protein (WASP). Furthermore, decreased IgLON5 expression in FMODkd, DPTkd, COL1a1kd, and ITM2akd cells suggested that IgLON5 and these genes mutually control gene expression during myogenesis. IgLON5 immunoneutralization resulted in significant reduction in the protein level of myogenic markers (MYOD, MYOG, MYL2). IgLON5 expression was higher in the CTX-treated gastrocnemius mice muscles (day 7), which confirmed increase expression of IgLON5 during muscle. Collectively, these results suggest IgLON5 plays an important role in myogenesis, muscle regeneration, and that proteins in ECM and myoblast membranes form an interactive network that establishes an essential microenvironment that ensures muscle stem cell survival.
To examine the role of several interrelated, potentially modifiable psychological factors (i.e., mindfulness and catastrophizing) in influencing patient-reported functioning.
In this cross-sectional study, 107 patients with fibromyalgia completed self-report assessments of pain severity, functioning and impact of symptoms, mindfulness, and pain catastrophizing. learn more Linear regression and bootstrapping mediation analyses were performed to assess the relationships between these factors.
Pain intensity was significantly and positively associated with pain catastrophizing and impact of fibromyalgia on functioning. Linear regression analyses indicated that pain intensity, catastrophizing, and mindfulness affect functioning in fibromyalgia. Follow-up mediation analysis revealed a significant indirect effect of pain catastrophizing on the relationship between pain intensity and fibromyalgia functioning.
Individuals with fibromyalgia who have higher levels of pain and catastrophizing, and lower levels of mindfulness, are more likely to experience impaired functioning. Our findings suggest that pain catastrophizing appears to be an especially important variable contributing to reduced functioning in women with fibromyalgia. Therefore, catastrophizing-reducing treatments (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy) are likely to have direct, beneficial impacts on functioning.
