130-0.831) were associated with significantly decreased risk for RS after ALVIS, while smoking was associated with a substantial increase in RS risk (HR, 2.590; 95% CI, 1.340-5.005) and included into the nomogram. A weighted point (from 0 to 100) was given to each risk factor, and the total points could be used to predict the probability of RS for the patient.
The nomogram shows that healthy lifestyles (bland diet, daily fruit consumption, good sleep, cigarette cessation, and housework) were important for reducing RS in patients with ALVIS.

Depression is defined as a psychiatric disorder characterized by depressed mood, lack of concentration, diminished energy, disturbed sleep, and low self-esteem. Depression is more prevalent in HIV/AIDS patients than the general population. There is no published study available that reveals the present status of depression among HIV patients in Pakistan. As such, the present study was conducted to determine the prevalence and associated factors of depression among HIV/AIDS patients attending the HIV clinic of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan.
A hospital-based cross-sectional study was carried out from February to March 2019 in Lahore. Data were collected from 158 HIV/AIDS patients using a pretested, standardized, structured interviewer-administered questionnaire. Nonprobability convenience sampling was used to recruit the study participants. AZD9291 molecular weight Depression was evaluated using the Patient Health Questionnaire. SPSS version 23 was used to analyze the data. Binary logistic regression models were used to determine the various factors associated with depression. AORs with 95% CIs were used to assess the magnitude of associations between depression and associated factors.
The mean age of the study participants was 35.03 years±9.123. Prevalence of depression among HIV/AIDS patients was 32.2%. Living in a rural area (AOR 5.60, 95% CI 2.20, 14.15), fear of stigma and discrimination (AOR 3.505, 95% CI 1.364, 9.008), having worked abroad (AOR 3.017, 95% CI 1.134, 8.031), and history of substance abuse (AOR 4.147, 95% CI 1.673, 10.28) were significantly associated with depression.
The prevalence of depression among HIV/AIDS patients is very high in Pakistan. Therefore, it is suggested that guidelines formulated to screen and treat depression among HIV patients.

Osteonecrosis of the femoral head is a progressive and debilitating disease that causes pain, osteoarthritis and hip joint collapse, eventually necessitating hip replacement. This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of autologous adult live-cultured osteoblasts (AALCO) implantation in patients with osteonecrosis of femoral head.
In this retrospective multicenter study, we collated and analyzed data of patients ≥12 years of age who underwent AALCO (OSSGROW
) between 2010 and 2015 for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
Data from 64 patients (101 hip joints) were assessed in this study. The mean ±SD duration of disease since diagnosis of osteonecrosis was 7.4±1.6 years. The mean follow-up duration was 6.3±1.4 years. The mean VAS score (n=98 hips) reduced significantly from 58.8 ± 13.8 to 32.2 ± 32.1 post-operatively (mean difference -26.5±35.2, p=0.001) and Harris hip score (n=97 hips) also significantly improved from 47.1±12.3 to 63.7±27.7 post-operatively (mean difference16.7±28.7, pt function and decrease in pain. Treatment with AALCO halted progression of osteonecrosis, preserved the natural hip, and eliminated the need for hip replacement surgeries in 7 out of 10 patients.
To demonstrate an unusual mechanism of iatrogenic, central descemetorhexis (DMR) during cataract surgery and subsequent rare spontaneous visual acuity improvement within 2 months after inadvertent surgical complication.
A 81 year old woman underwent cataract surgery complicated by the loss of a 4.8X4.75 mm diameter central area of Descemet membrane. Perioperative video recording documented the DMR formation during continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis creation.
Postoperatively, severe corneal edema with folds in the remaining Descemet membrane were observed. The patient was managed conservatively. The corneal edema gradually resolved over 2 months with improving of visual acuity from counting fingers to 20/20.
Unlike Descemet membrane detachment, descemetorhexis is a rare complication after intraocular surgery. The case report identifies a previously unknown mechanism of DMR formation during anterior capsulotomy creation. Loss of Descemet membrane may be managed conservatively in an otherwise healthy cornea with good final visual outcome without the need for surgical intervention.

To evaluate the diagnostic performance of uterocervical angle (UCA) and UCA with cervical length (CL) in predicting preterm delivery in threatened preterm labor.
A multicenter prospective observational cohort study was conducted in 160 pregnant women having threatened preterm labor at Srinagarind and Udonthani Hospitals in Thailand between March 2019 and June 2020. Researchers measured UCA and CL by transvaginal ultrasonography. Medical records were reviewed for patient characteristics, and patients were followed up until the date of delivery to assess for the outcome of preterm birth. The cut-off point of UCA was determined from receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratio, positive and negative predictive values (PPV and NPV) of UCA and of UCA with CL for predicting preterm birth were determined.
The incidence of preterm birth in women having threatened preterm labor was 27%. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV of UCA ≥110.97 degrees for predicting preterm birth were 65.
