Copyright © 2020 Jie Zhou et al.Surgery is the primary curative treatment for patients with nonmetastasized colorectal cancer (CRC). Rate of complications, morbidity, mortality, and overall survival of patients with CRC are factors associated with speed of recovery following surgery. Wuda granule (WD) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription used to promote rapid recovery after surgery. However, the specific mechanism of action of WD has not been characterized. Our study included 60 patients with clear histopathological evidence of colon or rectal cancer who underwent CRC laparoscopic surgery and 30 healthy individuals. Serum biochemistry and clinical evaluation of gastrointestinal function showed that WD could improve the nutritional status and gastrointestinal function and reduce the level of inflammation of patients with CRC following laparoscopic surgery. In addition, we used UPLC/Q-TOF-MS/MS-based metabolomics analysis to determine the mechanism of WD-related rapid recovery following laparoscopic surgery in patients with CRC. Twenty metabolites associated with arachidonic acid, alanine, aspartate and glutamate, α-linolenic acid, pyruvate, histidine, and glycerophospholipids were identified. The results suggested that the therapeutic mechanism of laparoscopic surgery combined with WD may be related to regulation of nutritional status, inflammation, immune function, energy, and gastrointestinal function in patients with CRC. This study also highlighted the ability of TCM compounds to interact with multiple targets to induce synergistic effects. This study may result in further studies of WD as a therapeutic agent to promote recovery following surgical resection of CRC tumors. Acid/base homeostasis is critical for organisms because protein and enzyme function, cellular structure, and plasma membrane permeability change with pH. Various ion transporters are expressed in normal gastric mucosal epithelial cells and regulate gastric acid secretion, ion transport, and fluid absorption, thereby stabilizing the differentiation and homeostasis of gastric mucosal epithelial cells. Ion transporter dysfunction results in disordered ion transport, mucosa barrier dysfunction, and acid/base disturbances, causing gastric acid-related diseases such as chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and GC. This review summarizes the physiological functions of multiple ion transporters and channels in the stomach, including Cl- channels, Cl-/HCO3 – exchangers, sodium/hydrogen exchangers (NHEs), and potassium (K+) channels, and their pathophysiological relevance in GC. In recent years, the theory of Zong Qi depression has been more and more applied to the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases. Trilaciclib Astragalus is the most important drug used to treat the depression of Zong Qi. Meanwhile, Astragalus injection is also widely used in a variety of diseases in accordance with the manifestations of Zong Qi subsidence. However, there is a lack of systematic review or meta-analysis of the clinical effect of Astragalus injection in the treatment of Zong Qi subsidence. Therefore, we searched for diseases characterized by symptoms of Zong Qi subsidence (including heart failure, respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and acute lung injury) and evaluated the effect of Astragalus injection in these diseases with mortality and distance of a 6-minute walking test. The results showed that the mortality of patients with subsidence of Zong Qi decreased in 1 month (OR, 0.26 [0.12, 0.61], 95% CI, P=0.002) and 1 year (OR, 0.38 [0.20, 0.69], 95% CI, P=0.002) after using Astragalus injection. The distance of 6-minute walking test after 7 (MD, 91.60 [6.89, 176.31], 95% CI, P=0.03), 14 (MD, 22.62 [13.80, 31.43], 95% CI, P less then 0.00001), and 28 days (MD, 108.31 [30.02, 186.59], 95% CI, P=0.007) of using Astragalus injection also increased. Therefore, we believe that Astragalus injection has a certain therapeutic effect on the depression of Zong Qi. Methods The present study employed a computational approach with filtering potential compounds via admetSAR, systems biology-based functional data prediction, and biochemical and molecular biological validation. Results We generated 118 bioactive compounds from 11 herbs within four dialectical therapy groups that are most commonly used to treat CML and predicted 141 potential targets. Methods Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) related to TCM and IPF were searched on PubMed, EMBASE Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, Chin VIP Information (VIP), and Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM) until December 2018. Standard mean difference (SMD) and 95% CI were calculated for the measurements related to lung function (FEV1/FVC, FVC%, FEV1%, TLC%, DLCO% or DLCO, and VC%) and other parameters (PO2, 6MWD, and SGRQ) when comparing TCM treatment to the control group.
