Endometriosis is a complex and heterogeneous disease in which extrinsic and intrinsic factors, such as genetics, provide to the disease development. Genome-wide association (GWA) studies may be essential to recognize genetic variants associated with the endometriosis risk. However, in the current literature there are some conflicting results between these studies. The aim of the present study was to undertake a systematic review about endometriosis GWA studies, to describe the disease-associated genes and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to try to understand the endometriosis etiopathogenesis, besides to discuss possible bias of conflicting results among these studies. This study is a systematic review of GWA studies in endometriosis published until December 31th, 2019 by PubMed database, considering the following descriptors endometriosis and (“polymorphism” or “SNP” or “genetic polymorphism” or “variants” or “locus”) and (“GWA” or “Genome-wide” or “Genome wide” or “Genetic association study”). The incntronic regions, their risk allele frequencies varied among the studies and their results were conflicting. In summary, WNT4 rs7521902, GREB1 rs13394619, FN1 rs1250248, IL1A rs6542095 and VEZT rs10859871 variants are highlighted due to high frequency and pathways and function that each gene influences in the development of endometriosis. However, the replication and validation of these variants in different populations are necessary for a better understanding of the endometriosis etiopathogenesis, in order to optimize the diagnosis and improve the efficiency of clinical treatment of the disease.Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of connective tissue disorders that can result in a range of complications during pregnancy. Pregnant EDS patients generally have a favourable outcome, but those with vascular EDS are more likely to suffer from severe maternal complications. Early diagnosis of EDS and subtype characterization can aid in pre-pregnancy counselling, planning of antenatal care, risk assessment of obstetric and neonatal complications, and influence both obstetric and anaesthetic management of these patients. This piece aims to outline the obstetric implications of classical, hypermobile, and vascular EDS, and review the current literature regarding their optimal obstetric management.
This study aimed to adapt the Questionnaire for Urinary Incontinence Diagnosis (QUID) into Brazilian Portuguese (QUID-Br) and evaluate its measurement properties, given as reliability, validity, and responsiveness in women with urinary incontinence.
It was a methodological study which enrolled 168 women (mean age = 55.1, standard deviation = 17.9 years old). Translation and cross-cultural adaptation were done and subsequently analysis of the measurement properties of QUID-Br were tested structural validity (by exploratory and confirmatory factory analysis) internal consistency (Cronbach’s α) construct validity (Pearson Correlation), and test-retest reliability (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient).
The QUID-Br two-factor was confirmed showing two domains with three items each stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and urge urinary incontinence (UUI). Furthermore, QUID-Br showed acceptable internal consistency for both scales (Cronbach’s α > 0.70), reliability [intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 0.85 for SUI and 0.87 for UUI)] with 95 % confidence interval (CI) and construct validity – with all the hypothesis raised a priori being confirmed.
The results of the present investigation showed that the QUID-Br is a valid, reliable, and consistent instrument to be administered to Brazilian women and its use is recommended in clinical practice and research.

To determine if changes in Day 1 to Day 4 serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels can predict treatment failure of single-dose methotrexate (MTX) in medical management of tubal ectopic pregnancies (EP).
This retrospective cohort study was conducted at a tertiary level hospital. Files were reviewed for all women who received at least one dose of 50 mg/m
intramuscular MTX for treatment of ultrasound-confirmed tubal EPs between 2013 and 2018. “Treatment failure” is defined as needing additional MTX or surgery to manage the EP. The innovative aim of this study is to evaluate the zebra mussel survival in the outlet channel of a conventional WWTP to use them as bioremediation tool. For this, mussels were transplanted in the outlet channel for 28 days and different biomarkers were monitored. D. polymorpha is able to maintain itself in good physiological conditions until 21 days, yet at 28 days a high mortality rate (24%), a decrease in filtration efficiency (8/15 mussels filtered and 17.0% of filtration rate) and antioxidant system activation (CAT activity et gpx gene expression increase) suggest an exhaustion. Some biomarkers suggested a hypoxic stress. Despite the unfavourable conditions, bivalves have bioaccumulated pathogenic protozoa (Toxoplasma gondii and Giardia duodenalis) during the exposure. Zebra mussel seems to be a promising tool for bioremediation in wastewater.
