BACKGROUND Recent literature has revealed that LINC01207 plays a vital part in tumorigenesis and malignancy progression. However, the potential mechanisms of LINC01207 in malignant glioma are still unknown. MATERIAL AND METHODS Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied to analyze LINC01207 mRNA levels in malignant glioma cell lines and tissue samples. The correlation between LINC01207 mRNA levels and clinical characteristics was explored, and the relative survival rate was observed using the Kaplan-Meier method. To examine the function of LINC01207, we performed cell viability, EdU assay, cell cycle assay, Transwell assay, and wound-healing assay to analyze relative cell proliferation, migration/invasion ability. Finally, qRT-PCR and western blot were used to investigate the potential mechanisms. RESULTS LINC01207 mRNA was lowly expressed in malignant glioma cells and cancer tissue samples. SU5416 solubility dmso Low expression of LINC01207 was associated with Karnofsky performance score (KPS), invasion condition, and tumor grade. Moreover, multivariate analysis confirmed LINC01207 expression and tumor grade were significant independent predictors of poor survival in malignant glioma. LINC01207 markedly inhibited cellar proliferation and viability via inducing G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrested and repressed cell metastasis through restraining epithelial-to-mesenchymal procession in vivo. In addition, we detected a reduction in the protein levels of ß-catenin and p-GSK-3ß, while GSK-3ß expression was upregulated. CONCLUSIONS In summary, LINC01207 served as a tumor-related tumor suppress gene for malignant glioma through inhibiting of GSK-3ß/ß-catenin signaling pathway. Objectives The primary objective was to correlate aortic intima-media thickness (aIMT) measured at L1-L2 with birth weight in neonates born at ≥35 week of gestation. The secondary objective was to compare aIMT in small for gestational age (SGA) and appropriate for gestational age (AGA) babies in this cohort. Methods Prospective observational study enrolling 200 newborns. aIMT was measured on day 3 of life using 10-12 MHz ultrasound probe. Relevant maternal and baby details were collected and analyzed. Results Mean (SD) aIMT was 0.43 (0.15) mm. There was a negative correlation between aIMT and birth weight (r= -0.64). Mean (SD) aIMT in AGA was significantly lesser than in SGA babies (0.36 (0.11) vs. 0.64 (0.08) mm; P less then 0.0001). Conclusion aIMT progressively decreases with increase in birthweight. Objectives Radiofrequency (RF) ablation for tachycardia in children poses challenges in view of slender veins and delicate cardiac structures in close proximity. Methods We reviewed hospital records for patients below 18 years, who underwent RF ablation from August, 2001 to February, 2017 at a single hospital. Results Among 214 patients(134 males, Age12.5 [4.6] years), there were 221 tachycardia substrates accessory pathways in 85 patients (39%), AV nodal re-entrant tachycardia in 79 patients (36%), ventricular tachycardia in 28 patients (13%) and atrial tachycardia in 21 patients (9.6%).The overall success rate of RF ablation was 95% (204/214). Success rate in those younger than 6 years was similar to those in older age groups. There were no major complication. Conclusion RF ablation below 18 years of age has a high success rates and low complications. Objectives To investigate phenotype-genotype correlations in Turkish children with glucokinase gene mutations leading to Maturity-onset diabetes in young (GCK-MODY). Methods Retrospective analysis of 40 patients (16 girls) aged under 18 with GCK-MODY. Results Mean (SD) serum fasting blood glucose level was 6.79 (0.59) mmol/L and the mean (SD) HbA1c level at diagnosis was 6.3% (0.5). Sixteen different variations were detected in the GCK genes of the 40 cases; 33 missense mutations, 6 deletions, and one nonsense mutation. The birthweight of infants with deletion mutation was significantly lower than that of infants with other mutations [2460 (353.66) g vs 2944.11 (502.08) g]. Conclusion GCK-MODY patients with deletion mutation inherited from mothers had lower birthweight and higher fasting blood glucose than those with other inherited mutations but similar HbA1c values. Objectives To describe the clinical profile and pattern of pediatric psychiatry emergency referrals at a tertiary-care center in India. Methods Retrospective chart review of emergency psychiatry records over a 13-month period (January 2015 – January 2016). Results Pediatric psychiatric emergencies (n=65) (mean (SD) age, 14.2 (2.39) y) constituted 10% of all-age psychiatric emergencies. Risk of harm to self and/or others was seen in a third of patients (aggression, 18.5%; self-harm, 16.9%). Common psychiatric diagnoses were dissociative disorder (27.7%), mood disorders (9.3%) and psychotic disorders (7.7%). Compared to adult emergencies attended during same time period, pediatric group had more females (63.1% vs 47.4%; P=0.02), more patients with dissociative disorders (28.7% vs 8.2%; P less then 0.01) and absence of psychotropic medication prescriptions (36.9% vs 20.6%; P=0.003), while frequency of self-harm and aggression as a reason for presentation was similar to adults. Conclusion The report helps to understand the service needs of younger age group presenting with psychiatric emergencies. Objectives To develop gender-specific graphic tool in which BMI cut offs can be read from height and weight, without need for calculating BMI and to validate tool against Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) 2015 BMI charts. Methods Validation of tool was performed using de-identified data on children from school health surveys. Results For detection of overweight and obesity, BMI tool had sensitivity of 95.7% and specificity 85.7% for boys, and 95.7% and 89.7% for girls, respectively. For underweight, sensitivity of 100% for boys and girls, and specificity of 88.9% for boys and 82.4% for girls was observed. Conclusion We present a graphic BMI tool for screening for underweight, overweight and obesity, which complements the existing IAP charts. Objectives To study the profile of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) among outborn and inborn babies at a tertiary-care centre. Methodology In a prospective observational study from 2015-2016, outborn and inborn babies eligible for ROP screening were evaluated for ROP profile and treatment results. Results 532 outborns and 38 inborns had ROP. Respiratory distress, sepsis and apnea were present in 81.3%, 51.5% and 36.2% of outborns with ROP and 68.4%, 39.4% and 36.8% of inborns with ROP. Type 1 ROP was noted in 49.2% eyes of outborns with ROP and 36.8% eyes of inborns with ROP. Type 1 ROP regressed with laser in 97.3% and 100% eyes of outborn and inborn with ROP, respectively. Stage 4, 5 and sequelae were noted in 5.2%, 22.8% and 4.6% eyes of outborns with ROP, respectively, but none in inborns. Conclusion Quality neonatal care and timely screening ensured lesser ROP-related morbidity in inborns as compared to outborns.
