    The present study aimed to investigate the patients’ perception of the dental practice during the COVID-19 outbreak, and whether the pandemic will affect the attendance of orthodontic patients at the dental practice. An online questionnaire, including the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), was submitted to Italian dental patients with items about their perceived risks when going to the dentist, concerns about continuing orthodontic treatment, and the onset of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Data were analyzed with a chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. The level of significance was set at P < 0.05.

    A total of 1566 subjects completed the survey, including 486 who were under orthodontic treatment or who had a child in orthodontic treatment. A total of 866 participants (55.3%) thought the risk of contracting the COVID-19 infection was higher in a dental practice; this perception was associated with gender (women more than man), age (over 60 years old) and high levels of distress (P< going to the dentist due to COVID-19. Because of the pandemic, 16% of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment would not return to the dental practice to continue their orthodontic treatment after the lockdown. The prevalence of TMD pain in the population increased due to the pandemic.

    Recently, the number of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) who have received both neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) has been increasing. However, whether adverse events (AEs) during AC influence the prognosis of patients with resected PDAC who do or do not receive NAC remains uncertain.

    Patients with PDAC who underwent a pancreatectomy between 2011 and 2019 were divided into two groups an upfront surgery (UFS) group (n = 72), and an NAC group (n = 77). Patients who received AC were then divided into two groups an AE grade 0/1/2 group (AE-G-0/1/2) and an AE grade 3/4 group (AE-G-3/4). The relationship between AEs and patient outcome and predictors of AE-G-3/4 were investigated.

    AC was used in 54 and 65 patients in the UFS and NAC groups, respectively. In the NAC group, the relative dose intensity (RDI) and AC completion rate as well as the overall survival rate of patients with AE-G-3/4 (n = 15) during AC were significantly worse than those of patients with AE-G-0/1/2 (n = 50). However, similar differences were not observed in the UFS group. A multivariate analysis revealed that AE-G-3/4 during NAC, AC agent (gemcitabine), an albumin level < 3.5g/dL, and an estimated glomerular filtration rate < 90mL/min/1.73 m

It is important to detect the flood-affected area in a reasonable time. In March 2019, a severe flood occurred in the north of Iran and lasted for 2 months. In the present paper, this flood event has been monitored by Sentinel-1 images. The Otsu thresholding algorithm has been applied to separate flooded areas from remaining land covers. The threshold value of -14.9 dB was derived and applied to each scene to delineate flooded areas. There was high variability of the inundated area; however, the presented threshold correctly represented the variation of the flood. The resultant maps were further verified by independent datasets. Nine Holstein cows were assigned to a replicated 3×3 Latin square design, and offered 1 of the 3 diets containing no DL (DL-0), or finely chopped DL partially (50%, DL-50) or completely (100%, DL-100) substituted for lucerne hay and maize silage. The replacement of the forages by DL was established such that the forage NDF (24.5%) was similar across diet despite the decreased forage concentrate ratio from 0.450.55 to 0.330.67. Diets were similar in concentration of crude protein and starch, while the indigestible forage NDF (iNDF) increased from 7.2 to 15.4% of DM. Results showed that increasing DL inclusion linearly decreased nutrient intake and digestibility. Moreover, a trend toward a linear decrease in milk yield and percentage of milk protein and lactose were observed with increasing DL proportion in the diet. However, ruminal volatile fatty acids concentration, milk fat content, and feed efficiency were similar across the treatments. A quadratic trend was observed for eating and ruminating time by feeding DL, with the highest values found for cows fed DL-50. Replacing forages with finely chopped DL was effective to meet the fibre requirement, but reduced feed intake and milk yield possibly because of increased forage iNDF. However, conventional forages can be partially replaced with DL in the diet, particularly under forage shortage, because of maintained gross milk yield efficiency and reduced feed cost.Microbe-mediated ammonia oxidation is a key process in soil nitrogen cycle. However, the effect of maize straw mulching on the ammonia oxidizers in the alkaline purple soil remains largely unknown. A three-year positioning experiment was designed as follows straw mulching measures as the main-plot treatment and three kinds of nitrogen application as the sub-plot treatment. We found the contents of soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), available potassium (AK), available nitrogen (AN), available phosphorus (AP), and NH4+-N were increased after straw mulching and nitrogen application in alkaline purple soil, so did the amoA genes abundance of ammonia-oxidizing archaeal (AOA) and bacterial (AOB). Terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis revealed that Thaumarchaeote (448-bp T-RF) was dominated the AOA communities, whereas Nitrosospira sp (111-bp T-RF) dominated the AOB communities. The community compositions of both AOA and AOB were altered by straw mulching and nitrogen application in alkaline purple soil, however, the AOB communities was more responsive than AOA communities to the straw mulching and nitrogen application.
