    Patients were categorized into three types based on the preoperative coronal balance status (type A = balance, type B = shifted to cave side and type C = shifted to convex side), and each type was further divided into two subgroups based on the postoperative coronal balance status (balance and imbalance).     The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the effect of varus alignment of the tibial component on the outcomes with a minimum follow-up of 10years. The hypothesis was that varus alignment of the tibial component might not affect the outcomes and survival of a neutrally aligned primary TKA.

    A matched case-control study was designed between 66 patients with varus alignment of the tibial component and 66 with neutral alignment with a minimum follow-up of 10years. Functional outcome was assessed with the knee surgery scores (KSS) and reduced Western Ontario and MacMaster Universities questionnaire (WOMAC). Patient satisfaction was evaluated by a 0-10 visual analog scale. Radiological evaluation was performed at early postoperative and at final follow-up.

    The mean follow-up was 11.9 (SD 2.6) years for both groups. The mean postoperative proximal tibial angle in the varus group was 85.0° (SD 0.9) and 88.8° (SD 0.9) in control group. At the final follow-up, there were no significant differences in KSS, WOMAC, range of motion or patient satisfaction. There were no differences in the coronal anatomical alignment of the TKA between groups. Revision of TKA was performed in four knees in the varus group, and one in control group, due to aseptic loosening of the tibial component in all cases. TKA survival at 10years was not significantly different between groups.

    The alignment of the tibial component up to 7° varus did not negatively affect implant survival, patient satisfaction, and function of a well-aligned TKA, with a minimum postoperative follow-up of 10years.

    III.Surgery for tetralogy of Fallot has a long history, which may be described as both a success story and a failure story. It is a success story because prognosis without surgery is very poor, but surgery makes it possible for affected babies to reach adulthood and lead productive lives. It is a failure story, however, since we still cannot cure this condition; we can only palliate it as illustrated in the sobering long-term outcome of affected patients. In this review article, we aim to explore the reason for this failure. This may be summed up in terms of the nature of the obstruction to the right ventricular outflow tract, which characterizes this malformation and must be relieved. This obstruction has several possible components, but none may be eliminated without harming the ventricle. There seems to be no ‘extra’ muscle band in tetralogy of Fallot that may be dispensed with without undermining ventricular function; every muscle band that is there should be there, just like in the normal heart, except that these are thicker than normal and somewhat displaced in tetralogy of Fallot, thus narrowing the right ventricular outflow tract. Consequently, ventricular function deteriorates with every muscle band that is cut, just like in the normal heart. We have to harm the heart in order to repair it. Every repaired Fallot is inevitably a damaged heart. Consequently, repair of this condition cannot be curative at present; it is palliative surgery.Of the 12 full-length feline leukocyte antigen class I (FLAI) loci, 3 are presumed to be classical FLAI-E, FLAI-H, and FLAI-K. Here we develop a targeted approach to FLAI genotyping, using the single-molecule real-time (SMRT) platform, which allows full-length (3.4-kb) reads without assembly. Consensus sequences matched full-length Sanger references. Thirty-one new class Ia genes were found in 17 cats. Alleles segregated strongly by loci, and the origins of formerly difficult-to-assign sequences were resolved. Although not targeted, FLAI-L and FLAI-J, and the pseudogene FLAI-F, were also returned. Eighteen class Ib alleles were identified. Diversity was restricted and outside hypervariable regions. Both class Ib genes were transcriptionally active. Novel alternative splicing of FLAI-L was observed. SMRT sequencing of FLAI amplicons is useful for full-length genotyping at feline class Ia loci. High-throughput sequencing could allow highly accurate allele surveys in large cat cohorts.Studies which examine the factors affecting success rate in kidney stones located in the lower pole as well as the effects of infundibulopelvic angle (IPA) and infundibular length (IL) have been conducted with a small number of patients. We aimed to evaluate the cut-off points of IPA and IL parameters that effect the success of retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) for isolated lower pole kidney stones. This retrospective study includes 168 patients who underwent primary RIRS due to isolated lower pole kidney stones in our clinic between January 2013 and May 2020.
