23 (95%-CI 1.08-1.40, p< .001) and 1.50 (95%-CI 1.32-1.70, p< .001) for the second and third tertile. We found consistent differences between TnT strata for all-cause death (3-year incidences 23.3%, 33.3%, and 47.1%; adjusted p< .001) and rehospitalization (3-year incidences 64.7%, 68.7% and 72.0%; adjusted p< .001), including significant differences in deaths (p< .001). The association between TnT and outcome was independent of coronary artery disease or low aortic valve gradient.

TnT before TAVR is strongly associated with all-cause death and rehospitalization during 3-year follow-up.

There are still controversies in using the large left lateral segment in pediatrics LT, with the possibility of the problem of LFS grafts, and the use of monosegmental or reduced liver grafts in small infants. This study aimed to evaluate our experience with LFSG in pediatrics LT.

A cohort retrospective analysis was conducted including pediatric recipients who underwent LT between January 2011 and October 2019. We compared recipients with GRWR≥4% (LFS) vs GRWR<4% as an average for size grafts.

There were 331 pediatric LT, 74 patients with GRWR≥4%, and 257 patients with GRWR<4%. In the group of LFS grafts, temporary abdominal closure by silicon patch was done in 39 patients (52.7%), 2 patients (2.7%) had postoperative HAT, 3 patients (4.1%) early PVT, 1 patient (1.3%) bile leak, and 3 patients (4.1%) had wound infection, with no significant difference in these complications between the 2 groups. In patients with LFS- grafts, the 1-, 3-, 5-, and 7-year patients survival rates were 94.6%, 91.7%, 91.7%, and 91.7%, respectively, while the survival rates in patients of the other group were 96.1%, 92.6%, 91.9%, and 91.9%, respectively, with no significant difference (p=.85).

Using LFS graft by left lateral segment in pediatric LT with potential delayed abdominal closure is a safe and feasible option with good outcomes and unnecessary need for graft reduction if performed by an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Despite numerous drinking interventions, alcohol use among college students remains a significant problem. Typically activated after negative events, counterfactual thinking is a cognitive process that contrasts reality with an imagined better alternative. As a result, counterfactual thinking highlights potential causal links between problematic behaviours and negative outcomes, which can strengthen intentions to change behaviour. Recent research has found that modifying behavioural intentions to engage in protective behavioural strategies (PBS) has led to increased PBS use and reduced alcohol outcomes. The current study evaluated counterfactual thinking as a way to increase PBS use intentions.

Intervention US study with college student drinkers.

A sample of college students (n=466) completed a web-based assessment of demographics, drinking, alcohol consequences, and PBS use. Those who endorsed an adverse drinking event were randomly assigned to an intervention condition (Control, Negative event only, Negative event with description, or Negative event with counterfactual). Following the intervention, participants reported intentions to engage in each PBS subtype over the next week.

Relative to control, the counterfactual condition resulted in greater PBS use intentions across all subtypes. Neither the negative event only nor the negative event with description resulted in higher PBS use intentions, relative to control. Importantly, the control group did not report whether they experienced a negative event; thus, we cannot definitively determine the effect this may have on the data.

This study provides a new theory-driven avenue for alcohol use interventions utilizing counterfactual thinking to enhance safe drinking intentions.

We present an aerobic methane-to-methyl-ester approach that utilizes a highly dispersed, cobalt-containing solid catalyst, along with significantly more favorable reaction conditions compared to existing homogeneously-catalyzed approaches (e.g. click here diluted acid, O2 oxidant, moderate temperature and pressure). The trifluoroacetic acid medium is diluted ( less then 25 wt %) with an inert fluorous co-solvent that can be recovered after the separation of the methyl trifluoroacetate via liquid-liquid extraction at ambient conditions. Silica-supported cobalt catalysts are highly active in this system, with competitive yields and turnovers in comparison to known aerobic transition metal-based catalytic systems.

During the first COVID-19 lockdown period, various restrictions led to diminished access to both educational and professional support systems for children with an intellectual disability and their families. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences and needs of parents caring for a child with an intellectual disability during the first lockdown period in the Netherlands.

Five mothers caring for a child with an intellectual disability participated in this qualitative study. The participants were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. The interviews lasted between 26 and 48min. The interview recordings were transcribed verbatim, and the transcripts were analysed thematically.

Three overarching themes emerged (1) We need to stay healthy, which centres on the mother’s urge to protect their child’s well-being; (2) We make it work, which provides insight into how the mothers were handling the drastic changes in their family; and (3) My child’s and family’s place in the world, which focuses on the mothers’ experienced position in the world around them.
