Electron donor-acceptor alternative stacking is a unique and important binary motif for 1D mixed-stack cocrystals, opening up possibilities for the development of organic ambipolar semiconductors. Herein, four 1D mixed-stack cocrystals using N,N’-bis(perfluorobutyl)-1,7-dicyanoperylene-3,49,10-bis(dicarboximide) (PDICNF) as the acceptor and anthracene, pyrene, perylene, and meso-diphenyl tetrathia[22]annulene[2,1,2,1] (DPTTA) as the donors are achieved in a stoichiometric ratio (DA = 11) through solution or vapor processed methods. KU-57788 supplier Their packing structures, energy levels, charge transfer interactions, coassembling behaviors, and molecular orientations are systematically investigated by single-crystal X-ray analysis, absorption spectra, fluorescence quenching, Job’s curve plot, and polarized photoluminescence measurements with the help of theoretical calculations. The donor-acceptor alternative stacking direction coincides with the long axis for all the four cocrystals. The field-effect transistors based on Pyrene-PDICNF show the electron mobility up to 0.19 cm2 V-1 s-1 , which is the highest value among perylene diimide-based cocrystals. Moreover, DPTTA-PDICNF cocrystals possess well-balanced electron and hole mobility with 1.7 × 10-2 and 2.0 × 10-2 cm2 V-1 s-1 respectively due to both hole and electron strong superexchange interactions, shedding light on the design of 1D mixed-stack cocrystals with excellent ambipolar transport behaviors.Childhood obesity is a major problem in Latin America and among US Latinos. Effective public health policies require contextually relevant evidence to guide them, which demands sustained research capacity. The objectives of this study are to determine research productivity in Latin America and in the United States focused on Latino populations and examine domains of research capacity (research infrastructure, training programs, mentoring, funding, and networks). We conducted a scoping review of indexed childhood obesity-related articles published June 2015-December 2019. We collected data on perceptions of capacity for childhood obesity research among Latin American investigators through an online survey. We identified 612 childhood obesity-related articles (505 from Latin America, 124 from the United States, and 17 US-Latin America collaborations). Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and the United States are the top publishing countries. There are similar numbers of obesity, nutrition, and physical activity articles, but physical activity research capacity lagged in other domains (research training, funding, and networking opportunities). Complementary research areas, including sedentary behavior, systems science, and policy studies, are uncommon in Latin America but more prevalent in the United States, whereas sleep research is nascent across settings. Realizing the promise of an effective cross-border collaborative childhood obesity prevention agenda will require committed investment in all domains of research capacity and across all relevant topics. There are wide genomic and phenotypic differences between Asian and European pig breeds, yet the current reference genome is the European Duroc pig genome. A high-quality pig genome is lacking for genetic analysis of agricultural traits in Asian pigs. Here, using a hybrid approach, a high-quality reference genome (MSCAAS v1) for the Asian Meishan breed is assembled with a contig N50 size of 48.05 Mb. MSCAAS v1 outperforms the Duroc genome as a reference genome for Asian breeds. Genomic comparison reveals 49,103 structural variations (SVs) between Meishan and Duroc, 4.02% of which are Asian-specific SVs (AP-SVs). Notably, a 30-Mb hotspot for AP-SVs on chromosome X enriched for genes associated with Asian-pig-specific phenotypes is present in Asian domestic pig breeds, but absent in Asian wild boars, suggesting that Asian domestic breeds share a common ancestor. Interbreed transcriptomics reveals transcriptional suppression roles of AP-SVs in multiple tissues. Finally, transcriptional regulation in the intron of IGF2R is reported, as genomic SV (274-bp deletion) in Tibetan pig limits its growth compared to domestic pig breeds. In summary, this study provides insights regarding the genetic changes underlying pig domestication and presents a benchmark-setting resource for the utilization of agricultural valuable loci in Asian pigs.Ovarian cancer is an aggressive tumor owing to its ability to metastasize from stage II onward. Herein, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that encapsulate combination of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), polo-like kinase-1 (PLK1), and eukaryotic translation-initiation factor 3c (eIF3c), to target different cellular pathways essential for ovarian cancer progression are generated. The LNPs are further modified with hyaluronan (tNPs) to target cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) expressing cells. Interestingly, hyaluronan-coated LNPs (tNPs) prolong functional activity and reduce growth kinetics of spheroids in in vitro assay as compared to uncoated LNPs (uNPs) due to ≈1500-fold higher expression of CD44. Treatment of 2D and 3D cultured ovarian cancer cells with LNPs encapsulating both siRNAs result in 85% cell death and robust target gene silencing. In advanced orthotopic ovarian cancer model, intraperitoneal administration of LNPs demonstrates CD44 specific tumor targeting of tNPs compared to uNPs and robust gene silencing in tissues involved in ovarian cancer pathophysiology. At very low siRNA dose, enhanced overall survival of 60% for tNPs treated mice is observed compared to 10% and 20% for single siRNA-, eIF3c-tNP, and PLK1-tNP treatment groups, respectively. Overall, LNPs represent promising platform in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer by improving median- and overall-survival.
