    To assess the agreement of heart rate (HR) between the new device – a fabric jacket for neonates, with integrated sensors detecting ECG signals and a Bluetooth connection to a computer (ComfTech, HOWDY) – and the clinical reference, ECG, during the skin-to-skin contact (SSC) in the first 2h after birth, for the potential use of early detection of Sudden and Unexpected Postnatal Collapse (SUPC).

    weeks of gestation, with Apgar score >8 at 5min in a prospective, observational study in the delivery room, excluding infants with need for resuscitation, clinical instability or major malformations. We assessed HR within 20min after birth by both devices simultaneously the index test ComfTech HOWDY and the standard ECG (Vita Guard VG 3100, Getemed). We compared HR between the two methods at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120min by the Bland-Altman plot.

    We included 60 infants. The mean difference between the methods was -1.3bpm, 95%LoA -12.4 to 9.7bpm. Spearman rank correlation coefficient ρ=-0.06.

In the clinical diagnosis of ovarian epithelial cancer, CA125 has become an important indicator of disease burden. To account for patient recurrence and death, a proper method is needed to integrate information from biomarkers and recurrence simultaneously. In the past 10 years, many methods have been proposed for joint modeling of longitudinal biomarkers and survival data, but few of them are applicable to longitudinal data and disease processes, including recurrence and death. In this article, we proposed a new joint frailty model based on functional principal component analysis for dynamic prediction of survival probabilities on the total time scale, which took recurrent history and longitudinal data into account simultaneously. The estimation of the joint frailty model is achieved by maximizing the penalized log-likelihood function. The simulation results demonstrated the advantages of our method in both discrimination and accuracy under different scenarios. To indicate the method’s practicality, it is applied to an actual dataset of patients with ovarian epithelial cancer to predict survival dynamically using longitudinal data of biomarker CA125 and recurrent history data.Farfarae Flos (FF) has been used in China for a long time as an anti-tussive and expectorant herbal drugs, and it was usually honey-fried FF (HFF). To clarify the mechanism of honey processing, it is important to know the chemical difference between FF and HFF firstly. In this study, UHPLC-Orbitrap-MS was used to characterize the chemical compounds in FF, honey and HFF. Then the metabolomic approach based on UHPLC-Orbitrap-MS revealed 68 differential compounds between the FF and HFF, and chemical reactions occurring during processing were also proposed to elucidate the honey processing mechanisms of FF. In order to investigate the chemical difference between FF and HFF comprehensively and accurately, the components derived from the honey and the moisture content in FF and HFF were considered for the first time. In summary, this study investigated the chemical differences between FF and HFF in a holistic way, which laid the basis for the quality control of HFF and further explaining the honey processing mechanisms of FF. In addition, eight native compounds derived from the honey could be used as the index to authenticate the HFF prepared by the genuine honey.Asiatic acid (AA) is a triterpene with promising pharmacological activity. In the present study, in vitro and in vivo assays were conducted to understand the effect of AA on cell proliferation and genomic instability. AA was cytotoxic to human tumor cell lines (M059J, HeLa, and MCF-7), with IC50 values ranging from 13.91 to 111.72 µM. In the case of M059J, AA exhibited selective cytotoxicity after 48 h of treatment (IC50  = 24 µM), decreasing the percentage of cells in the G0/G1 phase, increasing the percentage of cells in the S phase, and inducing apoptosis. A significant increase in chromosomal damage was observed in V79 cell cultures treated with AA (40 µM), revealing genotoxic activity. In contrast, low concentrations (5, 10, and 20 µM) of AA significantly reduced the frequencies of micronuclei induced by the mutagens doxorubicin (DXR), methyl methanesulfonate, and hydrogen peroxide. A reduction of DXR-induced intracellular free radicals was found in V79 cells treated with AA (10 µM). The antigenotoxic effect of AA (30 mg/kg) was also observed against DXR-induced chromosomal damage in Swiss mice. Significant reductions in p53 levels were verified in the liver tissue of these animals. Taken together, the data indicate that AA exerted antiproliferative activity in M059J tumor cells, which is probably related to the induction of DNA damage, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. As both biomes have experienced high rates of anthropogenic habitat alteration, we also analysed the influence of habitat conversion on the hybrid zone structure. To do this, we used 13 microsatellite loci to identify potential hybrids and generated ecological niche models for them and their parental species. We compared the influence of variables on parental species and hybrid occurrence and calculated the amount of niche overlap among them. Parental species showed different habitat requirements and predicted co-occurrence was restricted to the forest-grassland mosaic of the ecotone.
