To analyze the diagnosis and treatment of children with acquired internal intestinal fistulae.

There were 3 infants and young children with acquired internal intestinal fistulae. Clinical, laboratory and radiological diagnostic methods were used.

Two out of 3 children with acquired internal intestinal fistulae underwent surgical treatment for congenital intestinal obstruction. Acute intestinal ulcers appeared after surgery. In a premature child, intestinal fistula arose on the background of necrotizing colitis. Conservative approach was applied in this case. All children were operated on; intestinal fistula was eliminated. Two children are alive, 1 died after surgery (multiple organ failure).

Acquired internal intestinal fistulae are rare in children. Their causes may be acute intestinal perforation after surgery or covered (not diagnosed) ulcer as a complication of necrotizing colitis in premature children.

To study the effect of general magnetotherapy, muscle stimulation with biofeedback of pelvic floor muscles, and a special complex of physiotherapy exercises with and without fractional microablative CO

-laser therapy on sexual status in females after plastic surgery for rectocele.

There were 200 fertile females and women of perimenopausal and menopausal age with rectocele grade II-III. Various rehabilitation programs were used in delayed postoperative period in order to improve sexual function. Rehabilitation included various combinations general magnetotherapy, electrical muscle stimulation with biofeedback of pelvic floor muscles, intravaginal fractional microablative CO

-laser therapy and a special complex of exercise therapy.

Postoperative rehabilitation including general magnetotherapy, fractional microablative CO

-laser therapy, muscle stimulation with biofeedback of pelvic floor muscles and a special exercise therapy significantly improves sexual function in patients with rectocele. This is true for fertile females and women of perimenopausal and menopausal age. Significant data on PISQ-12 questionnaire (Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire) and Female Sexual Function Index of (FSFI) confirmed these results.

To evaluate the results of surgical treatment of internal carotid artery kinking following fibromuscular dysplasia.

There were 32 patients who underwent surgical treatment of internal carotid artery kinking following fibromuscular dysplasia. Structural changes of carotid artery wall were analyzed using immunohistochemical survey. Considering destructive changes revealed, we divided all patients into 2 groups in order to assess long-term postoperative outcomes 1 – ICA resection followed by anastomosis in end-to-end fashion; 2 – ICA replacement. Postoperative analysis included incidence of stroke, thrombosis and deformities of anastomosis zone, regression of cerebrovascular insufficiency.

    The main

phenotype» of arterial wall in patients with ICA kinking following fibromuscular dysplasia is a large number of smooth muscle cells releasing matrix matelloproteinases-2 and -9 and low level of their tissue inhibitor type 1. Postoperative deformities are more common within a year after surgery. Maximum incidence is observed after 12 months. selleck compound Both ICA resection and replacement are followed by similar incidence of deformity later. No severe deformities were diagnosed. Resection of ICA kinking on the background of fibromuscular dysplasia is followed by comparable results with ICA replacement regarding the incidence stroke, thrombosis and regression of cerebrovascular insufficiency.

Despite degradation of extracellular matrix, destruction of elastic fibers and their fragmentation, no significant deformities are observed in long-term postoperative period in patients with ICA kinking and fibromuscular dysplasia.

To establish the indications for optimal open lung surgery in patients with severe blunt chest injury.

Hematomas, lung wounds and purulent pulmonary complications were studied in four groups of victims. Causes of injuries included road accidents (

    =426), falling and beating (

    =387), catatrauma (

=217), squeezing the body with a massive weight (

    =46). Majority of victims (

=731, 67.9%) were transferred to the hospital within 1-5 hours after injury; 345 (32.1%) patients were transferred from other hospitals to treat combined injuries of head, chest, abdomen and complications within 1-49 days after injury.

Lung surgery was applied in 48 patients. Typical resections and pneumonectomies made up 77.1%. Indications for surgery included lung wounds complicated by pulmonary hemorrhage grade IIa and severe hemothorax, intrapulmonary hematoma ≥6 cm with high risk of bleeding and suppuration, gangrene, gangrenous and purulent abscesses of aspiration genesis, lung cancer first diagnosed in victims. Postoperative mortality was 14.6%. Twelve victims with unrecognized deep lung wounds and pulmonary root rupture were not operated. Thus, 5.6% of victims with severe blunt chest trauma need for open lung surgery.
