We found CA1 populations with properties continuously ranging from place cells to reward cells. This conjunctive coding property prompts a re-thinking of current computational models of spatial navigation in which hippocampal spatial and subcortical value representations are independent.PURPOSE The aim of this study was to compare neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treatment outcomes between ophthalmological practices and a specialized macula clinic. METHODS In this case series, we included 347 treatment-naïve eyes with nAMD (332 patients). All patients received intravitreal anti-VEGF treatment using ranibizumab or aflibercept at the discretion of the treating physician using a treat-and-extend protocol either by one of 28 practice-based ophthalmologists (group 1; n = 215 eyes) or at a macula clinic (group 2; n = 132 eyes) over 24 months. RESULTS Baseline characteristics of the patients in the two groups, including age, initial BCVA (group 1 58.2 ± 18.5, group 2 60.8 ± 16.1 ETDRS letters; p = 0.32), and baseline CRT, were comparable. By end of the observation period, both groups presented similar BCVA (group 1 67.4 ± 19.3, group 2 66.8 ± 17.2 letters; p = 0.51), visual gains (group 1 7.8 ± 16.9, group 2 5.8 ± 14.4 letters; p = 0.11), CRT values (group 1 259.6 ± 80.5, group 2 277.4 ± 87.1 μm; p = 0.10), and number of injections (group 1 13.0 ± 4.5, group 2 11.6 ± 4.1 injections; p = 0.09), as well as portion of eyes with stable disease (absence of any intraretinal fluid and absence or stability of subretinal fluid and pigment epithelial detachment group 1 78% (n = 128), group 2 75% (n = 95); p = 0.63). MATERIALS AND METHODS Observational design was used to evaluate the variables of interest-based on the Canadian Health Measures Survey cycle 1-3 (2007-2012). Generalized adjusted additive models were used to explore the shape of the association between high sensitivity C-Reactive protein, daily physical activity, step count and sedentary time. High sensitivity C-Reactive protein was measured with blood samples. Physical activity, number of steps and sedentary time were objectively assessed using an Actical accelerometer. RESULTS Daily moderate to vigorous physical activity and step count were significantly associated with lower high sensitivity C-Reactive protein levels, but daily light padults with arthritis and fibromyalgia. CONCLUSIONS Daily moderate to vigorous physical activity and step count were associated with high sensitivity C-Reactive protein levels that were below the clinical threshold. Given the positive outcomes of physical activity on health, adults with arthritis and fibromyalgia may benefit from these specific recommendations.Process intensification strategies are needed in the field of therapeutic protein production for higher productivities, lower cost of goods and improved facility utilization. This work describes an intensification approach, which connects a tangential-flow-filtration (TFF) based pre-stage perfusion process with a concentrated fed-batch production culture inoculated with an ultra-high seeding density (uHSD). This strategy shifted biomass production towards the pre-stage, reaching up to 45 × 106 cells/mL in perfusion mode. Subsequently, production in the intensified fed-batch started immediately and the product titer was almost doubled (1.9-fold) in an equivalent runtime and with comparable product quality compared to low-seeded cultures. Driven by mechanistic modelling and next-generation sequencing (NGS) the process had been optimized by selecting the media composition in a way that minimized cellular adaptation between perfusion and production culture. As a main feature, lactate feeding was applied in the intensified approach to promote cell culture performance and process scalability was proven via transfer to pilot-scale i.
