His son David Zayas Jr
He’s smart. He’s cute. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. During season 8, Angel Batista was not always played by David Zayas.
Dexter Morgan: I lived in the dark for a long time
replaces his father in some shots as the two look so much alike. During the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in the second season, the scar moved to his right side, leaving his left side featureless. Over the years my eyes adjusted until the darkness became my world and I could see…

Main Theme Written by Rolf Kent Performed by Rolf Kent. After four episodes, I’m ready to declare this the greatest television show of all time, one that might one day rank between The Sopranos and Twin Peaks, the first season’s contender for second-best television show of all time (behind the incomparable Buffy the Vampire Slayer; one of the show’s producers and writers includes former Buffy writer Drew Z. Greenberg, and the cast includes Buffy/Angel lead Julie Benz). Dexter is a sociopath — a man with no human feelings and therefore no natural internal moral compass — and possesses an insatiable bloodlust that drives him to kill.
The show is excellent, there are parallel movements at different speeds
But he had the great grace of being the adopted son of a police officer who (as we see in chilling flashbacks) successfully instilled in him an entire moral code that he strictly adheres to on an intellectual level. It’s a very brilliant concept (which I think comes from the novels it’s based on) that allows the writers to explore the nature of moral behavior and what it means to be human (Dexter is, in a way, an alien). There’s a primary narrative arc, which seemingly lasts the entire season (about the cat-and-mouse game between Dexter and the serial killer) and a secondary arc involving the police career of Dexter’s sister. The first few episodes include a very strong arc about one of Dexter’s police colleagues and a local crime lord, while two of the four episodes so far have also included a standalone story that ties in (and plays into) what’s going on.
The cast and production are superb
I’ve seen the future of structuring TV seasons and this is it. The writing, while not up to the best of House, has been excellent. The only reason you won’t want to watch this brilliantly brilliant show is the frequent use of extremely graphic imagery – these first four episodes have probably featured more severed body parts than the first four episodes of any other TV show to air combined. If you can stomach it, tune in for a fascinating look at what makes us human, or inhuman.
