Chronology
An epic drama set thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”; and 'The Lord of the Rings' follows an ensemble of both familiar and new characters as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth… “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”; actors and other actors who completely transformed themselves for their roles. Amazon eventually acquired the rights with a condition , that the series differs from Peter Jackson’s previous adaptations and that they don’t conflict with anything Tolkien had previously written. Initial ideas included backstories with characters like Aragorn, Gimli, and Gandalf, but the showrunners chose to focus on important, untold events from the novels. .not just side stories, so they agreed with the studio that the series would take place during the 'Second Age' ; (which deals with the first and second eras), examined the Lord of the Rings novels and appendices for passages about the second era and references to where to plant his story. They consulted with the estate and several experts on Tolkien history (including grandson and author Simon Tolkien) about the inclusion of new characters and plot elements.

Since they have a significant budget and options, I gave my points for watching the first episode straight away. Even though it’s the opening episode, I can say that I really enjoyed the first episode.
