This manuscript describes an extensive performance assessment of several Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model configurations where novel observations from ceilometers, surface stations and a flux tower were used to study their ability to reproduce planetary boundary layer heights (PBLH) and the impact that the urban heat island (UHI) has on the modeled PBLHs in the greater Washington, D.C. area. ubiquitin-Proteasome pathway In addition, CO2 measurements at two urban towers were compared to tracer transport simulations. The ensemble of models used 4 PBL parameterizations, 2 sources of initial and boundary conditions and 1 configuration including the building energy parameterization (BEP) urban canopy model. Results have shown low biases over the whole domain and period for wind speed, wind direction and temperature with no drastic differences between meteorological drivers. We find that PBLH errors are mostly positively correlated with sensible heat flux errors, and that modeled positive UHI intensities are associated with deeper modeled PBLs over the urban areas. In addition, we find that modeled PBLHs are typically biased low during nighttime for most of the configurations with the exception of those using the MYNN parametrization and that these biases directly translate to tracer biases. Nutrient deficiencies from inadequate intake of healthful foods can contribute to a weakened immune system and greater susceptibility to infection. Including herbs and spices in a balanced and diverse diet is one of the highlights of nutritious eating that supports health and immunity.
The review intended to examine ways to integrate specific herbs and spices into people’s diets and to use them therapeutically in holistic, integrated health promotion.
The research team performed a narrative review by searching PubMed Central and Google Scholar databases. The team developed a search strategy focused on specific common names of spices and herbs in combination with other terms, such as health benefits, health promotion, immunity, inflammation.
This review was conducted in Muncie and Columbus, Indce for individuals. More studies are needed on the consumption of herbs and spices in human trials to elicit evidence beyond preclinical and animal studies.
Obesity is a complex multifactorial disorder affecting a growing proportion of the population. While therapeutic lifestyle change (TLC) is foundational, results of interventional programs are often inconsistent. Factors related to systemic inflammation, toxin load and endotoxemia have been postulated to play a contributory role. This pilot study sought to evaluate the role of TLC with enhanced laboratory evaluation and interventions to address these emerging therapeutic targets.
Twelve participants with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 (or 27 with metabolic co-morbidities) were recruited from an outpatient clinic for participation with a primary outcome of pre/post changes in body composition. Participants completed a 12-week program involving weekly group and individualized dietary, exercise, and behavioral support, supplemented with a commercial, 30-day dietary detoxification intervention and ongoing nutritional counseling. All participants completed baseline and post-intervention evaluation including metabolic, toxin load, endotoxin, body composition and functional fitness profiles.
