Healthcare workers (HCW) treating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients face high levels of psychological stress. We aimed to compare mental health outcomes, risk and protective factors for posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS), probable depression, and anxiety between HCW working in COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 wards.
A self-report survey, administered in a large tertiary hospital in Israel during the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak was completed by 828 HCW (42.2% physicians, 57.8% nurses. Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System; the Patient Health Questionnaire-9; the Primary Care-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Screen for DSM-5 (PC-PTSD-5) were used for assessing anxiety, depression, and PTSS, respectively. Pandemic-related stress factors, negative experiences, and potential protective factors were also assessed.

Clinicians face several dilemmas regarding tracheal washes (TWs) for the diagnosis of respiratory disease, including method and prediction of bacterial growth from cytology results.
To compare cytology and culture of endotracheal and transtracheal washes and identify factors associated with discordancy and bacterial growth.
Two hundred forty-five dogs with respiratory disease.
Retrospective study. Tracheal wash submissions were included if cellularity was sufficient for cytologic interpretation and aerobic cultures were performed. Collection technique, cytology, bacterial growth, and antibiotic history were analyzed.
Fewer transtracheal specimens (9/144, 6.3%) were excluded for hypocellularity than endotracheal (28/174, 16.1%); otherwise, results were similar and were combined. Of 281 specimens with cellularity sufficient for interpretation, 97 (34.5%) had bacteria on cytology and 191 (68.0%) had bacterial growth. Cytology positive/culture negative discordancy was uncommon (8/97, 8%). Cytology negatogy was a good predictor of any growth, while their absence was a good predictor of the absence of growth of 1+ or more. Recent antibiotic usage should not discourage TW culture if there is compelling reason to avoid delay.
To determine the occurrence, factors and outcome of missed nursing care from the perspective of Malaysian nurses.
Missed nursing care is an important issue in the global health care sector. However, little is known on the extent of missed nursing care in the Malaysian context and its contributing factors.
A cross-sectional design was adopted for data collection using the MISSCARE Survey instrument. Participants comprised 364 nurses from medical and surgical wards of a large teaching hospital. Data were analysed using descriptive, binomial logistic and hierarchical regression analyses.
The overall occurrence of missed nursing care was 1.88 (on a scale of 1.00-5.00), which differed across 24 nursing care elements. Basic nursing care and communication-related care were the most frequently missed elements. Types of ward and labour resources were identified as contributing factors to missed nursing care (p<.001). No significant association was found between missed nursing care and nurses’ intention to leave (p>.05).
The occurrence of missed nursing care was noted to be low.
Practical strategies such as an acuity-based staffing system, close monitoring of rendered care and strengthening of teamwork are recommended to minimize missed nursing care.

Most primate studies have focused on condensed tannins (CTs) as they were thought to be the most effective type of tannin at preventing protein acquisition, but there is growing recognition that other types of tannins can bind to proteins, suggesting the division among tannin types is not as clear-cut as previously thought. Although previous studies have documented the presence of CTs in primate diets and primates’ behavioral responses to them, our understanding of tannins remains limited because few researchers have used Sephadex column purification to accurately determine tannin concentrations, and few have used in vitro assays to determine available protein content and the tannins’ effectiveness in binding protein. In this study, we documented diademed sifaka (Propithecus diadema) diet from June to August 2018 at Tsinjoarivo, Madagascar (in two forests with varying degrees of habitat disturbance) and quantified CT concentration and actual available protein in foods.
