Most aberrations in the cervical course of the internal carotid artery are generally encountered as incidental findings due to their asymptomatic nature. However these morphological variations if not identified intra operatively or pre operatively may lead to vascular accidents. It is essential to be aware of the existence of tortuosity, kinking, and coiling of these great vessels while considering patients for surgeries of head and neck cancer, pharyngeal resections, traumatic injury repair, etc. Our paper presents a case series of four patients in whom carotid dolichoarteriopathies were observed during the course of neck dissection. It aims to highlight the precautions required to avoid morbidity in such patients.

What are the effects of the oxytocin receptor (OTR) antagonist nolasiban on uterine contractions, endometrial perfusion and endometrial mRNA expression?

Randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, mechanism-of-action study with nolasiban. Forty-five healthy, pre-menopausal women were treated with placebo, 900 mg or 1800 mg nolasiban on the day corresponding to blastocyst transfer. Ultrasonographic uterine contraction frequency and endometrial perfusion were assessed, and endometrial biopsies analysed by next-generation sequencing.

Both doses of nolasiban showed decreased contraction frequency and increased endometrial perfusion depending on the time point assessed. At 1800 mg, 10 endometrial genes (DPP4, CNTNAP3, CNTN4, CXCL12, TNXB, CTSE, OLFM4, KRT5, KRT6A, IDO2) were significantly differentially expressed (adjusted P < 0.05). Of these, OLFM4, DPP4 and CXCL12 were regulated in the same direction as genes involved in implantation during the window of implantation. In addition, three genes (DPP4, CXCL12 and IDO2) were associated with decidualization and endometrial receptivity.

These data expand our knowledge of the mechanism of action of nolasiban in increasing pregnancy rates after embryo transfer. The results suggest more marked effects of nolasiban 1800 mg compared with the 900 mg dose, supporting testing at higher doses in IVF patients.

AZ960 There has been a greater awareness of ageism and its toxic effects creating a paradigm shift to include a human right, ethical, and social justice-based approach to augment the biomedical model of mental healthcare. The concept of dignity lies at the heart of human rights and must be a central concept integrated into public health and mental healthcare. Dignity denotes the self-respect and worthiness of an individual as well as social consideration of his/her identity. Dignity in older persons is multi-dimensional and includes several factors such as privacy, independence, inclusion, autonomy, etc. There are several determinants such as frailty, dependence, sensory, cognitive impairment and socioeconomic vulnerabilities, which tend to compromise dignity in the elderly and hence their fundamental rights. One such construct is that of ageism which comprises stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination based on age. Ageism and related forms of stigma impair dignified healthcare in older persons and deprive them of their rights. Mental health professionals are uniquely positioned to incorporate the strategies to promote dignity in their clinical care and research as well as advocate for related social/health policies based on a human rights approach. These intersections are discussed in this paper in light of the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Older Persons.

The present study aimed to determine the prevalence and coping strategies for postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and postdischarge nausea and vomiting (PDNV) in patients undergoing outpatient surgery.

A descriptive research design was used.

This descriptive study was carried out with 350 patients who were admitted within the scope of outpatient surgery of the ear, nose, and throat; orthopaedics, urology, and general surgery departmentsof a university hospital between July 3, 2017 and March 6, 2018. A patient diagnosis form consisting of 34 items developed by the researcher and nausea-vomiting diary were used to collect data.

The results showed that 30.6% of the patients had PONV and 26.3% had PDNV. Of the 92 patients with postdischarge nausea, 26.1% experienced mild, 44.6% moderate, 20.7% high, and 8.7% severe nausea. Among the strategies for coping with PDNV, the patients preferred resting (49%), going outdoors (23.4%), eating something (17%), and drinking something (10.6%). A statistically sig, the risk scoring system is expected to contribute to reducing PONV/PDNV incidence and improving patient coping strategies and satisfaction.

We aimed to determine the use of injury prevention exercises and injury prevention exercise programs in Danish youth handball and investigate coach and player experiences, beliefs and attitudes of injury and their prevention.

A mixed-methods design consisting of cross-sectional quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews.

We surveyed 481 youth (14-18 years old) handball players and their 33 coaches about their use of injury prevention exercises, and attitudes towards injury and their prevention. Additionally, we interviewed five coaches and three players about barriers and motivational factors for implementing injury prevention programs.

Players (71%) and almost all coaches reported performing injury prevention exercises for the shoulder, knee, and ankle. Yet few players (4%) and coaches (1%) reported performing the established full injury prevention programs systematically. Players were willing to implement programs to reduce injury risk (84% agreed) and enhance performance (88% agreed). Key factucation and training in this context in combination with making the programs more handball specific.
