This result should be confirmed in other sewer networks but already provides useful information for the management of urban sewage system. This study aims to measure China’s CO2 emissions embodied in fixed capital formation (FCF) from 2007 to 2017 by using both a multi-regional input-output (MRIO) model and a single-region input-output model (SRIO). Then decoupling analysis was performed for uncovering the relationship between embodied CO2 emissions and added values at provincial level. Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) method was further conducted to identify driving factors underlying the growth of embodied CO2 emissions. Results show that CO2 emission from FCF doubled from 2436 million tons (Mt) in 2007 to 4820 Mt in 2012, and increased slightly to 5089 Mt in 2017. Electric power, gas, and water production and supply sector (EGW) and manufacturing industry (MFI) sector were two dominant emitters from supply-side perspective, while construction (CON) was the largest demanding sector driving the embodied emissions from upstream sectors. From geographical point of view, northern provinces were the major inter-regional net exporters of embodied CO2 emissions, while eastern and southern provinces were net importers of embodied CO2 emissions. Based on such results, policy recommendations are proposed considering the relation between supply and demand sector, inter-provincial CO2 emission transfer, and local economic development to mitigate CO2 emissions from China’s FCF.The consumption of private hold poultry foodstuffs, escaping of official maximum residue limit (MRL) controls in the commercial foodstuff, is an important exposure way for the local populations to chlordecone on the French West Indies. Therefore, chlordecone contamination of different tissues in 42 birds from 32 private holders was determined depending on the contamination of the soil of the outside plot but also surveying the rearing practices of these holders of both islands. Chlordecone contents in tissues increased rapidly with this of the topsoil of the site. The most sensitive tissues to chlordecone presence were egg yolk and liver, followed by abdominal fat and finally leg tissue. The rearing practices varied between the surveyed private holders of both islands. Nevertheless, practices for the distribution of feed and water as well as covering of soil were hardly protective, what would increase the exposure risk of these birds to this potentially present soil-bound contaminant. Although depuration of birds seems possible, the ongoing modelization of the necessary time to meet MRL thresholds indicates that such time lapse seems hardly compatible with acceptable delays for private holders. Therefore, very protective rearing practices are the main way to obtain poultry foodstuffs compliant to MRL, what seems possible if the topsoil is contaminated at less than 0.1 mg kg-1 and perhaps up to 0.5 mg kg-1 if protective practices vis-a-vis of soil exposure are very strict. Nevertheless, a higher contamination of the topsoil seems not compatible with compliant poultry foodstuffs.INTRODUCTION Hereditary (variant) transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRv) with polyneuropathy (ATTR-PN) is a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive autonomic and sensorimotor neuropathy, severe disability, and death within 10 years of onset. Previous studies have primarily focused on how baseline cardiac characteristics affect mortality, but the impact of non-cardiac baseline characteristics is less defined. METHODS We systematically searched PubMed/Medline (1990-2019) to identify studies that assessed the impact of baseline ATTR-PN characteristics on survival. Outcomes were first summarized descriptively. Extracted survival data were then disaggregated, and parametric mixture models were used to assess survival differences among patient groups defined by factors known to affect survival. RESULTS The search yielded 1193 records, of which 35 were retained for analysis. Median survival ranged from 0.5 to > 25 years. The largest survival differences were between cohorts who underwent liver transplantation (LTx) versus those who did not. Among LTx cohorts, pre-LTx ATTR-PN disease duration ≥ 7 years, poor nutritional status, and late disease onset reduced median survival by 13, 12, and 10 years, respectively. Other prognostic survival factors included non-Val30Met genotype and baseline presence of urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, or muscle weakness. CONCLUSION Survival in patients with ATTR-PN is highly variable and affected by non-cardiac baseline characteristics, such as autonomic dysfunction, large fiber involvement, late-onset disease, and non-Val30Met mutation. Careful interpretation of these findings is warranted given that this synthesis did not control for differences between studies. Survival in patients with ATTR-PN remains poor among those who are untreated or with delayed diagnosis.STUDY DESIGN Two-center retrospective cohort study. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical effectiveness and safety of the MCGR hybrid in terms of spinal growth, 3D correction, balance, and complications. The magnetic-controlled growing-rod (MCGR) growth instrumentation method has gained popularity for early onset scoliosis (EOS) treatment in the past years due to the non-invasiveness of the subsequent interval elongation procedures. To improve 3D correction and reduce the costs, we combined a single concave MCGR with a sliding rod on the convex side to control the apex. Fetuin datasheet METHODS A retrospective cohort study of 18 EOS children with an average 3-year follow-up (range 2.0-3.7) from two European spine centers treated with the single MCGR hybrid concept; 14 primary and 4 conversion cases. The primary and conversion cases were both evaluated preoperatively, postoperatively, 1 year, 2 years, and last follow-up. RESULTS Mean age was 9.9 (SD ± 2.9 years). The average frontal Cobb angle was reduced from mean 65° to 30° postoperatively, and had increased to 37° at latest follow-up. Rotation of the apical vertebra improved from mean 27° to 20° postoperatively which was partially lost to 23°. Kyphosis and lordosis both increased by an average of 5° during the time of follow-up. Spinal balance was improved. The post-implantation T1-S1 spine growth rate averaged 10 mm/year at last follow-up. There were 13 implant-related complications in 6 out of 18 patients. No screw pull-outs and nor surgical site infections were registered. CONCLUSIONS This is the first medium-term results of a single MCGR hybrid construct. Maintenance of correction and growth are reasonable, and the complication rate is relatively low as compared to bilateral MCGR application. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE III.
