Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play vital roles in hepatocellular carcinoma development. However, the role and mechanism of circRNA hsa_circ_0000517 (circ_0000517) in hepatocellular carcinoma development were largely unknown.

45 paired tumor and adjacent nontumor samples were collected from hepatocellular carcinoma patients. The levels of circ_0000517, miR-326 and insulin-like growth factor type 1 receptor (IGF1R) were detected via quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction or western blot. Cell viability, colony ability, migration, invasion and glycolysis were assessed via 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), colony formation, western blot, transwell assay, glucose consumption, lactate production or adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. The target correlation between miR-326 and circ_0000517 or IGF1R was analyzed via dual-luciferase reporter analysis. The function of circ_0000517 in vivo was assessed via xenograft model.

circ_0000517 expression was elevated in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and cell lines. circ_0000517 knockdown suppressed cell viability, colony formation, migration, invasion and glycolysis. miR-326 was sponged via circ_0000517 and miR-326 knockdown reversed the effect of circ_0000517 silence on hepatocellular carcinoma development. miR-326 overexpression inhibited hepatocellular carcinoma development through targeting IGF1R. circ_0000517 knockdown decreased IGF1R expression by modulating miR-326. circ_0000517 downregulation reduced xenograft tumor growth.

circ_0000517 knockdown repressed hepatocellular carcinoma development in vitro and in vivo by modulating miR-326 and IGF1R.

Extramuralisation in healthcare has influenced medical and nursing curricula internationally with the incorporation of themes related to primary/ community care. Despite this, students do not easily change their career preferences. The hospital is still favourite, leading to labour market shortages in extramural care. This study investigates how baccalaureate nursing students’ perceptions of community care and placement preferences develop over time in a more ‘community-care-oriented’ curriculum, to gain insights on which curriculum elements potentially influence career choices.

A nursing student cohort of a University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands (

= 273) underwent a new four-year curriculum containing extended elements of community care. The primary outcome was assessed with the Scale on Community Care Perceptions (SCOPE). Data were collected each year of study. Darovasertib Descriptive statistics were used to investigate students’ placement preferences and perceptions, and linear mixed model techniques ( stimulated this, nor did the curriculum positively influence students’ perceptions. As most students do not look forward to the high responsibility of the field, other curricula with educational tracks for more mature students/ nurses with a vocational training may be an alternative contribution to solving the labour market problems in community care.

Although interest for placement in community care increased substantially, it was not clear which curriculum elements stimulated this, nor did the curriculum positively influence students’ perceptions. As most students do not look forward to the high responsibility of the field, other curricula with educational tracks for more mature students/ nurses with a vocational training may be an alternative contribution to solving the labour market problems in community care. This study aimed to determine the association between average temperature and humidity with COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh. This study included 9,455 confirmed cases during the observation period (March 08, 2020 to May 03, 2020). The peak spread of COVID-19 occurred at an average temperature of 26 °C. We find, under a linear regression framework, high temperature and high humidity significantly reduce the transmission of COVID-19, respectively. It indicates that the arrival of summer and rainy season in Bangladesh can effectively reduce the transmission of the COVID-19. However, it is unlikely that the COVID-19 pandemic diminishes by summer since Bangladesh still have a high coronavirus transmission. Therefore, other public health interventions such as social distancing are still important for blocking the COVID-19 transmission.Severe acute respiratory illness caused by 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), officially named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in late December 2019 is an extremely communicable disease. World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic as it has spread to at least 200 countries in a short span of time. Being a new disease there is lack of information about pathogenesis and proliferation pathways of this new coronavirus. Currently there is no effective treatment for coronavirus infection; major effort is to develop vaccine against the virus and development of therapeutic drugs for the disease. The development of genome-based vaccine and therapeutic antibodies require thorough testing for safety and will be available after some time. In the meanwhile, the available practical approach is to repurpose existing therapeutic agents, with proven safety record as a rapid response measure for the current pandemic. Here we discuss the presently used repurposed drugs for COVID-19 and the potential for ivermectin (IVM) to be used as a therapeutic option in COVID-19.COVID-19 and the Movement Control Order (MCO) may trigger a ‘next wave’ of mental health problems. However, the relationship is not linear. Human psychology also has an impact on the outbreak. Thus, proper strategies to manage human psychology, especially mental health, is very important to break the vicious cycle. This article aims to discuss ways to manage mental health using cognitive-behavioural approaches, mindfulness and spirituality. Specific cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness strategies are listed and suggestions to return to the foundation of human existence are discussed. By practising the cognitive-behavioural, mindfulness, and spirituality strategies described, we may enhance our acceptance, optimism and commitment to prepare for a ‘new or renewed normal’.
