    Teleophthalmology, a subfield of telemedicine, has recently been widely applied in ophthalmic disease management, accelerated by ubiquitous connectivity via mobile computing and communication applications. Teleophthalmology has strengths in overcoming geographic barriers and broadening access to medical resources, as a supplement to face-to-face clinical settings. Eyes, especially the anterior segment, are one of the most researched superficial parts of the human body. Therefore, ophthalmic images, easily captured by portable devices, have been widely applied in teleophthalmology, boosted by advancements in software and hardware in recent years. Conditions that rely on anterior segment imaging modalities, including slit-lamp photography, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, corneal tomography, in vivo confocal microscopy and/or optical biometers, are the most commonly explored areas. These include infectious keratitis, keratoconus, corneal grafts, ocular surface pathologies, preoperative screening before refractive surgery, intraocular lens calculation, and automat principles and terminologies related to AI, particularly machine learning and deep learning, to help improve the understanding, research and clinical implementation of these AI technologies among the ophthalmologists and vision scientists.     The aims of this study were to (1) compare cause of death patterns among deceased cardiac patients with anxiety to those without anxiety and (2) examine the association between anxiety symptoms and specific causes of death.

    We used data from the DenHeart survey to evaluate symptoms of anxiety at discharge by using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Data on mortality in the 3 years after discharge and cause of death according to International Classification of Diseases-10 classification came from national registers. Cause of death was compared between patients with and without anxiety using χ2 tests. The association between symptoms of anxiety and cause of death was investigated using logistic regression.

    With a rise in gun violence in the United States, surgeons are tasked with effectively managing penetrating facial trauma. The purpose of this study is to assess methods used for successful composite reconstruction of each anatomical facial subunit following penetrating trauma. A retrospective chart review was performed in subjects undergoing craniofacial reconstruction following penetrating trauma. Reconstructive methods were analyzed through operative reports. Subjects were categorized by anatomical subunit reconstructed (mandible, maxilla (malar complex and roof/palate), orbit, and cranium) and method of reconstruction (open reduction internal fixation only, bone graft, free flap, implant, and tissue expansion). Thirty-six subjects underwent reconstruction for penetrating facial trauma. Involved subunits include 24 mandible, 11 malar complex, 13 palate, 18 orbit, and 11 cranium.
