However, the way in which STAT5 regulates intestinal epithelial compartment is largely ignored due to the lack of genetic tools for proper exploration and because the two STAT5 transcription factors (STAT5A and STAT5B) have some redundant but also distinct functions. In this review article, by focusing on STAT5 functions in the intestinal undifferentiated and differentiated epithelia, we discuss major advances of the growth factor/cytokine-JAK/STAT5 research in view of intestinal mucosal inflammation and immunity. We highlight the gap in the research of the intestinal STAT5 signaling to anticipate the gastrointestinal explorative insights. Furthermore, we address the critical questions to illuminate how STAT5 signaling influences intestinal epithelial cell differentiation and stem cell regeneration during homeostasis and injury. Overall, our article provides a centric view of the relevance of the relationship between chronic inflammatory diseases and JAK/STAT5 pathway and it also gives an example of how chronic infection and inflammation pirate STAT5 signaling to worsen intestinal injuries. Importantly, our review suggests how to protect a wound healing from gastrointestinal diseases by modulating intestinal STAT5.In the context of organic waste management, near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is being used to offer a fast, non-destructive, and cost-effective characterization system. However, cumbersome freeze-drying steps of the samples are required to avoid water’s interference on near infrared spectra. In order to better understand these effects, spectral variations induced by dry matter content variations were obtained for a wide variety of organic substrates. This was made possible by the development of a customized near infrared acquisition system with dynamic highly-resolved simultaneous scanning of near infrared spectra and estimation of dry matter content during a drying process at ambient temperature. Using principal components analysis, the complex water effects on near infrared spectra are detailed. Water effects are shown to be a combination of both physical and chemical effects, and depend on both the characteristics of the samples (biochemical type and physical structure) and the moisture content level. This results in a non-linear relationship between the measured signal and the analytical characteristic of interest. A typology of substrates with respect to these water effects is provided and could further be efficiently used as a basis for the development of local quantitative calibration models and correction methods accounting for these water effects.Binary complexes of acetone and formic acid with tetrahalomethanes CBr4 and CCl4 have been isolated in argon matrix. Spectral shifts in the characteristic νC=O region of acetone, as well as in the fingerprint regions, are unambiguously assigned to the formation of halogen bond involving one of the halogen atoms on CBr4/CCl4 as donor, and the carbonyl oxygen of acetone as acceptor. In addition, NBO and AIM analysis have been carried out to understand the role of local interactions at the halogen bonded interface. Such predicted data are found to be consistent with experimental observations, and re-assert the stronger nature of CBr4 as halogen bond donor, as compared to CCl4.

    To explore the factors determining the interest in extended-release buprenorphine (XR-BUP) injections among patients receiving opioid agonist treatment (OAT) in France.

    366 patients receiving OAT for opioid use disorder, recruited in 66 French centers, were interviewed from 12/2018 to 05/2019. A structured questionnaire assessed their interest in XR-BUP using a [1-10] Likert scale. ‘More’ vs. ‘less’ interested groups were defined using the median score of interest, and their characteristics were explored using adjusted odds ratios (aORs) and 95 % confidence interval (95 %CI). Independent variables were as follows sociodemographic characteristics, OAT-related features (e.g., type of OAT and prescriber, dosing, or duration of treatment), OAT representations, and personal objectives of treatment.

    The median interest in XR-BUP was 7 (interquartile range 3-9) out of 10. The participants who were ‘more interested’ (i.e. those scoring ≥7) showed no substantial difference in sociodemographic characteristics, rewith treatment objectives focused on abstinence and recovery, and with experiencing constraints in taking a daily oral OAT.Recurrent episodes of neurological dysfunction and white matter lesions in a young adult raise suspicion for multiple sclerosis (MS). However, occlusive retinopathy, hearing loss and absence of CSF oligoclonal bands are atypical for MS and should make the clinician consider an alternative diagnosis. We describe a man with hearing loss, visual signs and symptoms, and an accumulating burden of brain lesions, who was treated for a clinical diagnosis of MS for nearly two decades. Genetic testing revealed a unifying diagnosis.
