The complete cascaded physical scenario of exciton spatiotemporal dynamics is eventually established. This work can refresh our perspective on the spatial nonuniformities of CVD-grown atomically thin semiconductors and provide important implications for developing durable and stable excitonic devices in the future.Intravesical therapeutic delivery has been extensively investigated for various bladder diseases such as bladder cancer, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, and interstitial cystitis. However, conventional drug carriers have a low therapeutic delivery efficiency because of the passive diffusion of drug molecules in a bladder and the rapid clearance by periodic urination. Here, we report biocompatible and bioavailable enzyme-powered polymer nanomotors which can deeply penetrate into a mucosa layer of the bladder wall and remain for a long-term period in the bladder. The successful fabrication of nanomotors was confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray mapping, zeta-potential analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and urease activity and nanomotor trajectory analyses. After injection into the bladder, urease-immobilized nanomotors became active, moving around in the bladder by converting urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. The nanomotors resulted in the facilitated penetration to the mucosa layer of the bladder wall and the prolonged retention in the bladder even after repeated urination. The enhanced penetration and retention of the nanomotors as a drug delivery carrier in the bladder would be successfully harnessed for treating a variety of bladder diseases. The sluggish reaction kinetics at the cathode/electrolyte interface of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries limits their commercialization. Herein, we show that a dual-regulation system of iron phthalocyanine (FePc) and octafluoronaphthalene (OFN) decorated on graphene (Gh), denoted as Gh/FePc+OFN, accelerates the interfacial reaction kinetics of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). Multiple in situ spectroscopy techniques and ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy combined with density functional theory calculations demonstrate that FePc acts as an efficient anchor and scissor for the LiPSs through Fe···S coordination, mainly facilitating their liquid-liquid transformation, whereas OFN enables Li-bond interaction with the LiPSs, accelerating the kinetics of the liquid-solid nucleation and growth of Li2S. This dual-regulation system promotes the smooth conversion reaction of sulfur, thereby improving the battery performance. A Gh/FePc+OFN-based Li-S cathode delivered an ultrahigh initial capacity of 1604 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C, with an ultralow capacity decay rate of 0.055% per cycle at 1 C over 1000 cycles.Air bubbles formed between layers of two-dimensional (2D) materials not only are unavoidable but also emerge as an important means of engineering their excitonic emission properties, especially as controllable quantum light sources. Measuring the actual spatially resolved optical properties across such bubbles is important for understanding excitonic physics and for device applications; however, such a measurement is challenging due to nanoscale features involved which require spatial resolution beyond the diffraction limit. Additional complexity is the involvement of multiple physical effects such as mechanical strain and dielectric environment that are difficult to disentangle. In this paper, we demonstrate an effective approach combining micro-photoluminescence measurement, atomic force microscope profile mapping, and a theoretical strain model. We succeeded in reconstructing the actual spatial profiles of the emission wavelengths beyond the diffraction limit for bubbles formed by a monolayer tungsten disulfide on boron nitride. The agreements and consistency among various approaches established the validity of our approach. In addition, our approach allows us to disentangle the effects of strain and dielectric environment and provides a general and reliable method to determine the true magnitude of wavelength changes due to the individual effects across bubbles. Importantly, we found that micro-optical measurement underestimates the red and blue shifts by almost 5 times. Our results provide important insights into strain and screening-dependent optical properties of 2D materials on the nanometer scale and contribute significantly to our understanding of excitonic emission physics as well as potential applications of bubbles in optoelectronic devices. The coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic has emerged as one of the major outbreaks to be mentioned in history in coming times. Like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a respiratory virus infecting the lungs with fever, dry cough, and acute pneumonia being the major symptoms. It infects epithelial cells expressing angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, which is crucial for viral entry. Based on evolving clinical evidence, it is now unfitting to label SARS-CoV-2 as just a respiratory virus, as lately there are various reports that substantiate its pathogenicity in other organs of the body, including brain. In this review, we discuss the epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 in comparison to SARS and MERS along with possibilities of viral entry into central nervous system (CNS) tissues. Selleckchem CDK inhibitor The review provides detailed information about the virulence, epidemiology, and insights into molecular pathways involved in the infectivity of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, along with an in-depth view of current concepts about the neurological significance of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its neuropathological competence. The review also touches upon our current understanding of placental transmission of SARS-CoV-2, an important aspect of vertical transmission. Furthermore, the review provides a current update on strategies that have been used, are being used, or are under trial for treating the disease.Chronic use of opioids can lead to tolerance, dependence, abuse, and addiction. This in turn can result in dose escalation and opioid overdose. Opioid overdose can be fatal due to severe opioid-induced respiratory depression (OIRD). Naloxone, a nonspecific antagonist of the mu-opioid receptors, is used for the reversal of OIRD. However, one of the major challenges of using naloxone is its short elimination half-life, which is significantly shorter compared to many opioid analgesics. Thus, renarcotization and rapid return to full respiratory depression might occur, specifically in individuals who have taken large doses or long-acting opioid formulations. Additionally, because of the very low oral bioavailability of naloxone, an oral formulation is not currently available. This study examines in mice a novel oral formulation of naloxone based on polymer nanoparticles (NP-naloxone). A single dose of 1 or 5 mg/kg NP-naloxone was highly effective at inhibiting the activating effects of repeated administration of 10 mg/kg morphine for at least up to 24 h.
