    Upon a drastic decline of the giraffe population in the wild, conservation efforts and therefore the role of zoos have become more important than ever. With their unique opportunities, zoos provide excellent conditions to study animal behavior, expanding the knowledge about the giraffe’s behavior repertoire and their ability to adapt. This study therefore examined the nocturnal behavior of 63 giraffe living in 13 different EAZA zoos across Germany and the Netherlands. Giraffe were observed and videos recorded via infrared sensitive cameras during the winter seasons 2015-2018. The observation period spanned nightly from 1700 to 700. Thus, 198 nights, with a total of 2772 h were recorded and analyzed. Linear mixed models were then used to assess potential biological and environmental factors influencing behavior during the dark phase. Results show that individual variables such as age, subspecies and motherhood determined nocturnal activity and sleep behavior most. Among the variables studied, husbandry conditions and environmental factors complying with EAZA standards had no influence on the giraffe’s nocturnal behavior. By combining nocturnal activity analyses and an assessment of potential influencing factors, our findings present a holistic approach to a better understanding of captive giraffe behavior and allow for management implications.Syntheses of tetrahydroepoxy, O-allylic, O-prenylic, and O-propargylic tetrafluoronaphthalene derivatives, starting from 1-bromo-2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzene, are reported here for the first time. The O-substituted tetrafluoronaphthalene derivatives were designed and also synthesized via a one-pot nucleophilic substitution reaction in excellent yields, whereas the tetrafluorotetrahydroepoxynaphthalene derivate was synthesized via a reduction reaction in excellent yield. The chemical structures of all the synthesized molecules were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy, and high-resolution mass spectrometry techniques. In this study, a series of novel tetrafluoronaphthalene derivatives (2, 2a, 4-6) was tested toward several enzymes including α-glucosidase, acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and human carbonic anhydrase I and II (hCA I/II). The tetrafluoronaphthalene derivatives 2, 2a, and 4-6 showed IC50 and Ki values in the range of 0.83-1.27 and 0.71-1.09 nM against hCA I, 1.26-1.85 and 1.45-5.31 nM against hCA II, 39.02-56.01 and 20.53-56.76 nM against AChE, and 15.27-34.12 and 22.58-30.45 nM against α-glucosidase, respectively. Molecular docking calculations were made to determine the biological activity values of the tetrafluoronaphthalene derivatives against the enzymes. After the calculations, ADME/T analysis was performed to examine the effects on human metabolism. Finally, these compounds had antidiabetic and anticholinesterase potentials.Plants of the genus Brassica occupy the top place among vegetables in the world. Brassica vegetables are of great economic importance around the world. At present, Brassica plants are grown together with cereals and form the basis of global food supplies. They are distinguished by high nutritional properties from other vegetable plants, such as low fat and protein content and high value of vitamins, fibers along with minerals. In addition, they possess several phenolic compounds and have a unique type of compounds namely glucosinolates that differentiate these crops from other vegetables. These compounds are also responsible for numerous biological activities to the genus Brassica as described in this review.Although topical therapies are used to treat extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD), reliable treatment outcomes and the effects of these therapies on subsequent surgical treatments are unclear. To assess the clinical outcomes of topical treatment of EMPD and establish the treatment guidelines the medical records of 166 patients diagnosed with EMPD were retrospectively reviewed. The recurrence rate was evaluated according to the previous use of topical agents. Thirty-four patients (34/166, 20.5%) were initially treated with topical agents such as imiquimod, 5-fluorouracil, and ingenol mebutate. Three patients (3/34, 8.8%) showed clinical response, while 31 patients required subsequent therapy owing to treatment failure. Analysis of the prognostic factors of recurrence in 166 patients revealed that initial topical treatment increased the hazard ratio (HR) in both univariate and multiple Cox proportional hazards models (HR = 3.770, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.768-8.037, P = 0.001, and adjusted HR = 3.628, 95% CI = 1.558-8.450, P = 0.003). Patients treated with topical agents showed significantly poorer 3-year recurrence-free survival than the nontreated group (66.3% vs 88.6%, P less then 0.001).     A single-use duodenoscope (SUD) has been recently developed to overcome issues with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-related cross-infections. The aim was to evaluate SUD safety and performance in a prospective multi-centre study.

    All consecutive patients undergoing ERCP in six French centers were prospectively enrolled.
