In multivariable mortality analysis, multivessel disease (HR 2.59, CI95% 1.29-5.18) and TIMI flow less then 3 post-PCI (HR 2.41, CI95% 1.4-4.15) were associated with 90-day mortality. Procedural PCI complications were recorded in 51 (35%) patients, arrhythmic complications being the most common (n = 32, 63%). The incidence of complications was similar between survivors and non-survivors (31% vs. 42%, P = 0.21). CONCLUSIONS Multivessel disease is associated with worse survival in ACS-related CS. In patients undergoing PCI, arrhythmic complications were common, but not associated with excess mortality. A common feature of regeneration of appendages such as limbs, fins, antlers, and tails is the formation of a blastema-a transient structure that houses a pool of progenitor cells that can regenerate the missing tissue. We have identified the expression of von Willebrand factor D and EGF domains (vwde) as a common feature of blastemas capable of regenerating limbs and fins in a variety of highly regenerative species, including axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum), lungfish (Lepidosiren paradoxa), and Polpyterus (Polypterus senegalus). Further, vwde expression is tightly linked to the ability to regenerate appendages in Xenopus laevis. Functional experiments demonstrate a requirement for vwde in regeneration and indicate that Vwde is a potent growth factor in the blastema. These data identify a key role for vwde in regenerating blastemas and underscore the power of an evolutionarily informed approach for identifying conserved genetic components of regeneration. © 2020 The Authors. Previous genetic analyses of Sardinian ASF virus (ASFV) isolates have revealed that they all belong to p72 genotype I, with only minor sequence variations. However, these studies examined only a few selected genes. To distinguish between these closely related isolates and better investigate ASFV evolution in Sardinia, we sequenced the complete genomes of 12 Sardinian ASFV isolates collected between 1978 and 2012, and compared them with 47/Ss/2008 and 26544/OG10. Most of the observed changes occurred in a time-dependent manner; however, their biological significance remains unclear. As a whole, our results demonstrate the remarkable genetic stability of these strains, supporting a single-source introduction of the virus. © 2020 Blackwell Verlag GmbH.AIMS Patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) have an increased risk of ischaemic stroke. We aimed to identify the incidence rate and factors associated with ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) in CHF patients as well as the impact of non-invasive telemedical care (NITC) on acute stroke/TIA. METHODS AND RESULTS We retrospectively analysed baseline characteristics of 2248 CHF patients enrolled to the prospective multicentre Telemedical Interventional Monitoring in Heart Failure study (TIM-HF) and Telemedical Interventional Management in Heart Failure II study (TIM-HF2), randomizing New York Heart Association (NYHA) II/III patients 11 to NITC or standard of care. Hospitalizations due to acute ischaemic stroke or TIA during a follow-up of 12 months were analysed. Old age, hyperlipidaemia, lower body mass index, and peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) were independently associated with present cerebrovascular disease on enrolment. ESC Heart Failure published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd on behalf of the European Society of Cardiology.INTRODUCTION The presence of high fluorescent cells high fluorescent cells (on the body fluid analyzer) (HF-BF) on the Sysmex XN-1000 hematology analyzers has gained interest regarding the prediction of malignant cells in body fluids, but lacks sensitivity. We aimed to increase this sensitivity by combining HF-BF value, automated results, and clinical information. METHODS We evaluated a new workflow for the management of body fluids in the hematology laboratory, including the HF-BF criterion and clinical information. In two laboratories, 1623 serous fluids were retrospectively analyzed on the XN-1000 BF mode. All samples were morphologically screened for malignant cells. Optimal HF-BF cutoffs were determined to predict their presence. Thereafter, the added value of clinical information was evaluated. Other reflex testing rules (eosinophilic count >5% and presence of the WBC Abnormal Scattergram flag) were also used to refine our workflow. RESULTS Optimal HF-BF cutoffs in the two hematology centers were 108 and 45 cells/µL, yielding a sensitivity/specificity of 66.7/93.6% and 86.8/66.6% for malignant cell detection. When adding clinical information, sensitivity/specificity evolved to 100.0/68.9% and 100.0%/not determined. Of 104 samples containing malignant cells, 97 had positive clinical information; the remainder had a HF-BF > cutoff. CONCLUSION Combining clinical information and HF-BF reached 100% sensitivity for malignant cell detection in body fluid analysis. Lack of robustness of the optimal HF-BF cutoff deserves the use of local cutoffs. The value of tumor deposit (TD) in prognostic prediction staging system is not yet determined. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed clinical information on GC patients who underwent gastrectomy at the Department of General Surgery of the Chinese PLA General Hospital from July 2014 to June 2016. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to reduce the possibility of selection bias according to the presence of TD. RESULTS Of the 1034 GC patients, 240 (23.21%) presented with TD, which was associated with younger age and larger tumor size (all P less then .05). TD-positive patients had a worse survival than TD-negative patients before (P less then .001) and after (P = .017) matching.
