When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they landed Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and would audition people similar to Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least pitch him to Ford first, thinking he would immediately turn him down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been brought on, sparking interest from other notable actors.
