Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew”; and more stars from a galaxy far, far away
Chronology
Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that leads them to a strange and dangerous galaxy. The holographic circus that entertains Neil’s young siblings is reminiscent of Chewbacca’s family watch from the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).
AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022) was featured
I approach this review with caution and it seems that ‘Skeleton Crew’ is aimed at a younger audience. While kids might enjoy it, I found the first four episodes a bit disappointing.
The war setting feels shallow, and the action sequences don’t have the impact they should have
The story lacks depth, and it feels like a children’s movie that jumps from place to place without much consequence. The acting, while not terrible, could be stronger, especially considering the ability of some of the actors.
Even Jude Law seems to call it that at times
The production design is impressive, but it can’t save the story, which is slow and ultimately forgettable. Perhaps the series will improve later, but based on my first viewing, I’m not convinced.
